''Live at the Royal Albert Hall'' is a live album by the British singer-songwriter Joan Armatrading. It was recorded live on tour in 2010 and 2011, following the release of Armatrading's seventeenth studio album ''This Charming Life''. The album was released as a digital album, CD and DVD by 429 Records / Savoy Jazz (FTN17814). Background The CD version of ''Live at the Royal Albert Hall'' contains 15 of the 21 songs from the tour's set list, and was recorded live at the Royal Albert Hall in London. The DVD version of the album contains all 21 songs and was also recorded at the Royal Albert Hall, with additional footage of recordings from concerts in Denver, Colorado. The album presents the concert as it happened, with no overdubs or additions. Since this album was recorded from the tour following the release of ''This Charming Life'', many of the songs on it are from that album. Joan Armatrading
Joan Anita Barbara Armatrading, (, born 9 December 1950) is a Kittitian-English singer-songwriter and guitarist. A three-time Grammy Award nominee, Armatrading has also been nominated twice for BRIT Awards as Best Female Artist. She received an Ivor Novello Award for Outstanding Contemporary Song Collection in 1996. In a recording career spanning nearly 50 years, Armatrading has released 20 studio albums, as well as several live albums and compilations. Early life Joan Armatrading, the third of six children, was born in 1950 in the town of Basseterre in what was then the British colony Saint Christopher and Nevis. Her father was a carpenter and her mother a housewife. When she was three years old, her parents moved with their two eldest boys to Birmingham in England, sending Joan to live with her grandmother on the Caribbean island of Antigua. ''Joan Armatrading'' is the third studio album by British singer-songwriter Joan Armatrading, released in 1976 by A&M Records. It was her first album to be recorded entirely in London, as her first two albums – ''Whatever's for Us'' and ''Back to the Night'' being partially recorded in France and Wales respectively in addition to London. Released in 1976, the album peaked at number 12 on the UK Albums Chart and was certified Gold by the British Phonographic Industry. It also included one of Armatrading's best-selling singles, " Love and Affection". Armatrading's 1979 live album '' Steppin' Out'' contained two songs from this album, "Love and Affection" and "Tall in the Saddle". She is pictured on the cover of the album playing an Ovation Guitar. The album's producer, Glyn Johns, later said it was the best album he had ever been associated with. It was the first single to be released from Armatrading's 1983 album '' The Key'', and was her third and (to date) final UK top 40 hit. ''Walk Under Ladders'' is the seventh studio album by British singer-songwriter Joan Armatrading, released on 4 September 1981 by A&M Records. The album peaked at No. 6 on the UK Albums Chart and was certified Gold by the British Phonographic Industry for sales in excess of 100,000 copies. The album peaked at No. 16 in Australia. Two minor hits from the album both fell just short of cracking the UK Top 40: "I'm Lucky", which peaked at No. 46, and "No Love", which peaked at No. 50. Background The album was produced by Steve Lillywhite. Five tracks from the album were released as singles; "I'm Lucky", "When I Get It Right", "No Love", "I Wanna Hold You" and "The Weakness in Me".
