Liv Heløe
Liv Heløe (born 3 February 1963) is a Norwegian actress and writer. Working as a professional actor from the age of 11, playing several significant parts on film and in the theatre in both classical and contemporary drama, she made her debut as a writer in 1994 with ''Negressen'', performed at Det Norske Teatret and on Norwegian national television. In 2006 she received the Ibsen Prize, a prize for Norwegian playwrights, for her plays ''Lise L'' and ''I dag og i morgen''. The theatre was founded in 1912, after an initiative from Hulda Garborg and Edvard Drabløs. It opened in 1913, touring with two plays, ''Ervingen'' by Ivar Aasen and ''Rationelt Fjøsstell'' by Hulda Garborg. Its first official performance was Ludvig Holberg's comedy ''Jeppe på berget'', with Haakon VII of Norway and the prime minister of Norway among the spectators. Hulda Garborg was the first board manager, and Rasmus Rasmussen was the first theatre director. The theatre primarily performs plays written in or translated into Nynorsk. The theatre has three stages, and about 12–15 productions per year, plus guest plays. Ibsen Prize
The Norwegian Ibsen Award ( Norwegian: ) is awarded to promote Norwegian drama and is awarded only to playwrights. History The prize is awarded by Skien municipality, the hometown of author and playwright Henrik Ibsen, and has been awarded every year since 1986. The prize is awarded to a Norwegian playwright who has published a new work in the past year which has been produced by a professional theater, radio theater, or on television. It may also be awarded for the cumulative work in authoring dramatic works. Formerly, the prize was awarded annually in Skien on March 20th, in commemoration of the birthday of Henrik Ibsen. Since 2008 it has been awarded in September at the International Ibsen Conference held in Skien, together with the International Ibsen Award () established in 2008 and first awarded to British theatre and film director Peter Brook.
