Esther Littlefield
Esther Kasakan Littlefield (April 29, 1906 – June 17, 1997), also called Aan-woogeex', was a Tlingit artist who made blankets and ceremonial regalia including button blankets. She was awarded the National Heritage Fellowship in 1991. Early life Esther Edith Kasakan was born in Killisnoo near Sitka, the daughter of James Kasakan and Lena Marie Daniel. She was a member of the Kiksadi, a Tlingit clan. Career Littlefield made hats, blankets, and robes for Tlingit ceremonial uses; her works used traditional emblems to represent people and events, and they served as an aid for storytelling. She worked at the Sitka National Historical Park, teaching handicraft classes at the Southeast Alaska Indian Cultural Center, beginning in 1969. She received an award from the National Park Service in 1983, and the Alaska Governor's Award for the Arts in 1984. Willie Littlefield, Jr., billed as Little Willie Littlefield (September 16, 1931 – June 23, 2013), was an American R&B and boogie-woogie pianist and singer whose early recordings "formed a vital link between boogie-woogie and rock and roll". Littlefield was regarded as a teenage wonder and overnight sensation when in 1949, at the age of 18, he popularized the triplet piano style on his Modern Records debut single, "It's Midnight". He also recorded the first version of the song " Kansas City" (originally issued as "K. C. Lovin'"), in 1952. Military Vehicle Technology Foundation
The Military Vehicle Technology Foundation was a large collection of military vehicles located in Portola Valley, California. It was founded in 1975 by Jacques Littlefield, and closed in 2018 after his death, with its collection being distributed to other museums. Many of its vehicles are now part of the American Heritage Museum run by the Collings Foundation in Stow, Massachusetts. History The first acquisition was an unrestored M3A1 Scout Car. The first two tanks arrived on site in 1983, and by 1988 the collection comprised five armored vehicles. Subsequent military vehicles and associated equipment were acquired from dealers, collectors, or in trade with various museums or government agencies in the United States and abroad. By the middle of the 1990s the collection included examples from almost all historically significant land battles of the last half-century. Jacques Littlefield (November 21, 1949 – January 7, 2009) was the founder of the Military Vehicle Technology Foundation (MVTF), also called the Littlefield collection. Collection Jacques Littlefield collected many vintage military vehicles including a Panther tank, several M4 Sherman tanks, a SS-1 Scud launcher, and a propeller of the ship '' Lusitania''. Henry M. Littlefield (June 12, 1933 – March 30, 2000) was an American educator, author and historian most notable for his claim that L. Frank Baum's ''The Wonderful Wizard of Oz'' was a political satire, founding a long tradition of political interpretations of this book. He wrote an essay about his theory for his high-school students in Mount Vernon, New York, and published it in the '' American Quarterly'' in 1964. Littlefield was also a well-known wrestling coach at Mt. Vernon High School and Amherst College.
