Littleborough Cricket Club
Littleborough Cricket Club, based in Littleborough, in the Metropolitan Borough of Rochdale, Greater Manchester, is an English cricket team currently playing in the Central Lancashire League. The club was founded in 1839 and play on the famous Hare Hill ground. Littleborough were founder members and inaugural champions of the Central Lancashire League, and they have been league champions on twenty occasions, the last time being in 2005. Littleborough hold Lancashire Cricket Board Focus Club status and are ECB Clubmark accredited. Two senior teams play in the CLL in addition to a 3rd XI who play in the North Manchester League. The club's junior section fields teams in the CLL at U18, U15, U13, U11 and U9 age groups and the juniors receive expert coaching at the club during the summer on Monday evenings. Littleborough ( ) is a town in the Metropolitan Borough of Rochdale, Greater Manchester, England, in the upper Roch Valley by the foothills of the South Pennines, northeast of Rochdale and northeast of Manchester; Milnrow and the M62 motorway are to the south, and the rural uplands of Blackstone Edge to the east. Franklyn DaCosta Stephenson (born 8 April 1959) is a former cricketer from Barbados who played as a right handed batsman and pacer. Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. Christopher Paul Schofield (born 6 October 1978) is an English cricketer, who played Tests and Twenty20 Internationals. Schofield is one of the few leg-spinners to play cricket for England in the 21st century. Stuart Grant Law (born 18 October 1968) is an Australian-born cricket coach and former cricketer. He played one Test and 54 One Day Internationals (ODIs) for Australia. Law also captained Queensland to five Sheffield Shield titles and two one day trophies, making him the most successful captain in Australian domestic cricket; he is also Queensland's all-time leading run scorer in first-class cricket. Sir Anderson Montgomery Everton Roberts, KCN (born 29 January 1951) is a former Antiguan first-class cricketer who is considered the father of modern West Indian fast bowling. Roberts played Test cricket for the West Indies, twice taking seven wickets in a Test innings. Arriving in England in 1972, he played first-class cricket for Hampshire County Cricket Club and then later for Leicestershire County Cricket Club. Roberts was the first Antiguan to play Test cricket for the West Indies, thus leading the way for many of his famous countrymen including Viv Richards, Richie Richardson and Curtly Ambrose.
