Little Canada is a hamlet in the City of Doncaster in South Yorkshire, England. It is situated on the B6422 road between Brodsworth and Scawthorpe, approximately {{convert, 4, mi north-west of Doncaster city centre. The Scawthorpe subdivision within the Adwick le Street built-up area, which only includes Little Canada and not the bulk of Scawthorpe, had a population of 259 at the 2011 census. History It was built in the 20th century and most of the houses were made of wood. This, along with the surrounding open flat plateau, resembled the Canadian Prairies, hence the name, Little Canada. The City of Doncaster is a metropolitan borough with city status in South Yorkshire, England. It is named after its principal settlement, Doncaster, and includes the surrounding suburbs of Doncaster as well as numerous towns and villages. The district has large amounts of countryside. At 219 sq miles, it is the largest metropolitan borough by area in England. Brodsworth
Brodsworth is a village, civil parish and suburb of Doncaster in the City of Doncaster district in South Yorkshire, England. situated about five miles north-west of Doncaster. According to the 2001 census, it had a population of 2,875, increasing to 2,936 at the 2011 Census. Historically, the parish of Brodsworth was much larger, but with the sinking of Brodsworth Colliery by the owners of Brodsworth Hall, the model village of Woodlands was built two miles away. On 1 April 1915, Woodlands was added to the parish of Adwick-le-Street since the colliery town had expanded to the stage where it joined Adwick. Brodsworth remained as a collection of farms and the estate village. Adwick le Street is a village in the City of Doncaster, South Yorkshire, England. The Adwick ward of Doncaster Metropolitan Borough Council had a population of 15,911 at the 2011 Census. Roman Ridge is a bridleway that was part of the Roman road of Ermine Street, between Scawsby and Redhouse to the north of Doncaster, England. This footpath departs from the A638 road at The Sun junction with the A635 (or Barnsley Road). Its course runs at an angle bisecting the angle made between the two modern roads. It runs to the west of the A638, roughly parallel to it, through the area of Sunnyfields and on to cross Green Lane, Scawsby on the eastern edge of Little Canada. Scawsby is a suburb of Doncaster, South Yorkshire, England. It is situated approximately 2 miles north-west of the city centre on the A635 road to Barnsley close to its terminus with the A638. Geography Scawthorpe, Sunnyfields, Marr, Cusworth, Sprotbrough and Bentley are neighbouring villages and suburbs.
