Litoměřice District ( cs, okres Litoměřice) is one of seven districts ('' okres'') located within the Ústí nad Labem Region in the Czech Republic. Its capital is the town of Litoměřice. Districts Of The Czech Republic
Districts of the Czech Republic are territorial units, formerly used as second-level administrative divisions of the Czech Republic. After their primary administrative function has been abolished in 2003, they still exist for the activities of specific authorities and as statistical units. Their administrative function was moved to selected municipalities. Establishment In 1960, Czechoslovakia was re-divided into districts ('' okres'', plural ''okresy'') often without regard to traditional division and local relationships. In the area of the Czech Republic, there were 75 districts; the 76th Jeseník District was split in the 1990s from Šumperk District. Doksany
Doksany (german: Doxan) is a municipality and village in Litoměřice District in the Ústí nad Labem Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 400 inhabitants. History The oldest settlement dates back between 4500 and 2500 BC. In 1993, archaeologists discovered more ancient buildings and settlements that dated back to the same period of time. The first written mention of Doksany is from 1151 by chronicler Vincencius, who wrote about the Doksany convent. It was probably founded in 1144 by Gertrude of Babenberg and Vladislaus II as the second convent in the kingdom. Geography Doksany is located about south of Litoměřice, south of Ústí nad Labem, and northwest of Prague. It lies in a flat agricultural landscape of the Lower Eger Table.
