Lithuanian Swimming Federation
The LTU Aquatics (formerly Lithuanian Swimming Federation, lt, Lietuvos plaukimo federacija, LPF) is the national federation for Aquatics in body of swimming in Lithuania, as well as the other Aquatics sports: diving, artistic swimming and open water swimming. It is a non-profit organization that was founded in 1924. During Soviet Union occupation federation was closed and re-founded at 1991. It is both a member of LEN and FINA. On 29 May 2023 Lithuanian Swimming Federation changed its official name to ''LTU Aquatics''. Swimming (sport)
Swimming is an individual or team racing sport that requires the use of one's entire body to move through water. The sport takes place in pools or open water (e.g., in a sea or lake). Competitive swimming is one of the most popular Olympic sports, with varied distance events in butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, freestyle, and individual medley. In addition to these individual events, four swimmers can take part in either a freestyle or medley relay. A medley relay consists of four swimmers who will each swim a different stroke, ordered as backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly and freestyle. Swimming each stroke requires a set of specific techniques; in competition, there are distinct regulations concerning the acceptable form for each individual stroke. There are also regulations on what types of swimsuits, caps, jewelry and injury tape that are allowed at competitions. Lithuanian Swimming Championships
The Lithuanian Swimming Championships is the national swimming championships for Lithuania. They are organised by LTU Aquatics and separate championships are held annually in both long course (50m) and short course (25m) pools. The two meets are the country's top domestic meet for their respective course. The first edition of the championships was held in Raudondvaris on 5 July 1931, with events at the Nevėžis River. Simonas Bilis
Simonas Bilis (born 11 November 1993) is a Lithuanian swimmer. He is the current national record holder in the 50-meter, 100-meter freestyle (long course) and 50-meter, 100-meter freestyle (short course). Bilis represented Lithuania at the 2015 World Aquatics Championships where he finished 20th in 50m freestyle. In 2016, he broke national record with 48.64 in men's 100m freestyle and qualified for 2016 Olympics. He finished 8th place in the 50 meter Freestyle at the Rio 2016 Summer Olympics. In November 2022 Bilis announced about his retirement from sport. Danas Rapšys
Danas Rapšys (; born 21 May 1995) is a Lithuanian swimmer. He is a two-time Olympian, a multiple-time Lithuanian record holder in the men's backstroke, freestyle and butterfly, and a double swimming champion at the 2017 Summer Universiade in Taipei, Taiwan. Rapšys is also a member of Panevežys Žemyna Club, and is coached and trained by Ina Paipelienė. 2013 season In 2013 he became a European Junior champion. At the 2013 FINA World Junior Swimming Championships in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, Rapšys competed in 4×100 metre mixed medley with Rūta Meilutytė, Povilas Strazdas, Eva Gliožerytė. During 4×100 metre mixed medley heats, they finished third with a time of 3:55.74 seconds and qualified to the final. Giedrius Titenis
Giedrius Titenis (born 21 July 1989) is a Lithuanian swimmer, who specialized in breaststroke events. He is a four-time Olympian, a multiple-time Lithuanian record holder in the men's breaststroke, and a double swimming champion in the same discipline at the 2011 Summer Universiade in Shenzhen, China. Titenis is also a member of Anykščiai Swimming Club, and is coached and trained by Žilvinas Ovsiukas. Swimming career Titenis is considered one of Lithuania's top male swimmers, having achieved more than a hundred titles at the national championships, and having broken numerous records in men's breaststroke (50, 100, and 200 m), and medley relays (200 and 400 m). Rūta Meilutytė (; born 19 March 1997) is a Lithuanian swimmer. An Olympic gold medalist, she is a world record holder in the short course 50 metre breaststroke and 100 metre breaststroke. She is a former world record holder in the long course 50 metre breaststroke and 100 metre breaststroke. At the age of 15, Meilutytė had already broken eleven Lithuanian women's swimming records. At the 2011 European Youth Summer Olympic Festival in Trabzon, she won the gold medal in the 100m breaststroke, a silver in the 50m freestyle and a bronze in the 100m freestyle.
