Lithuania National Badminton Team
The Lithuania national badminton team ( lt, Lietuvos nacionalinė badmintono rinktinė) represents Lithuania in international badminton team competitions. The team is managed by the Lithuanian Badminton Federation. Lithuania competed in the 1989 Sudirman Cup as part of the Soviet Union. In the European championships, the Lithuanian men's and women's teams debuted in the 2008 European Men's and Women's Team Badminton Championships. Lithuania won its first badminton medal in the European Games when four-time national champion, Kęstutis Navickas defeated Yuhan Tan of Belgium to earn a place in the men's singles semifinal. The 2001 Sudirman Cup was the 7th tournament of the World Mixed Team Badminton Championships of Sudirman Cup. It was held from May 28 to June 2, 2001 in Seville, Spain. The 2011 European Mixed Team Badminton Championships were held at the Sporthallen Zuid in Amsterdam, Netherlands, from February 15–20, and were organised by the Badminton Europe and the Nederlandse Badminton Bond. 2019 Sudirman Cup
The 2019 Sudirman Cup (officially known as the 2019 Total BWF Sudirman Cup for sponsorship reasons) was the 16th edition of the Sudirman Cup, the biennial international badminton championship contested by the mixed national teams of the member associations of Badminton World Federation (BWF), since its inception in 1989. The tournament was played in Nanning, China, between 19 and 26 May 2019. Korea is the defending champion. China defeated Japan 3–0 in the final to win the tournament. Host city selection Nanning was the only bidder for this event. The bid was approved by Badminton World Federation on 18 March 2017 during a meeting in Kuala Lumpur. The city itself won the internal bidding phase by the Chinese Badminton Association, being the preferred city over Nanjing (later chosen to host 2018 BWF World Championships), Qingdao, and Wuhan. The 2013 Sudirman Cup was the thirteenth tournament of the Sudirman Cup. It was held from May 19–26, 2013 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. According to the Badminton World Federation (BWF) 31 teams have confirmed their participation, for the second time, twelve teams competed in the elite group to battle for the title.
