2010 European Athletics Championships
The 2010 European Athletics Championships were the 20th edition of the European Athletics Championships, organised under the supervision of the European Athletic Association. They were held at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain from 27 July to 1 August 2010. Barcelona was the first Spanish city to host the European Championships. Barni was the mascot of the event, he was the main promotional tool of the Championship. His name comes from Barna and was designed by the workshop Dortoka. Tadas Šuškevičius
Tadas Šuškevičius (born 22 May 1985 in Vilnius) is a race-walker who competes internationally for Lithuania. He finished 32nd in the 50 km walk at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing and 45th at the 2012 Olympics. He also competed at the 2009 World Championships in Athletics reaching 17th place and setting a then personal record. Darius Draudvila (born 29 March 1983) is a Lithuanian decathlon and heptathlon track and field athlete, who internationally competes for Lithuania, but lives in the United States. During studies in USA, Darius represented Kansas State track & field team and his personal best in decathlon take 4th place in Kansas State team's history. In 2008 Draudvila set a national heptathlon record. His personal best is 8032 points, which he achieved in 2010 at the European Championships in Barcelona. Virgilijus Alekna (; 13 February 1972) is a Lithuanian former discus thrower and politician. He won medals at the 2000, 2004 and 2008 Olympics, including two golds. After retiring from athletics, Alekna was elected to the national parliament, the Seimas, in 2016. He has 3 children - Martynas Alekna, Mykolas Alekna and Gabrielė Aleknaite. Austra Skujytė (born 12 August 1979 in Biržai) is a retired Lithuanian athlete, competing in both the heptathlon and the decathlon. On 15 April 2005 in Columbia, Missouri, she broke the women's decathlon world record, with a score of 8358. She is the 2004 Olympic silver medalist and 2012 Olympic bronze medalist in the heptathlon.
