List Of Lakes Of Azerbaijan
This is a list of lakes of Azerbaijan. The list includes only natural lakes. Artificial lakes such as reservoirs are excluded from this list. The Caspian Sea, which is the largest lake on Earth by both area and volume and which borders Azerbaijan on the east, is also excluded from this list. There are around 450 lakes in Azerbaijan. All of them are small in area and volume. There are only 5 lakes with a surface area of more than 10 km². Most of these lakes are fresh water, but some of them are salt lakes. In its origin, these lakes are tectonic lakes, landslide-dammed lakes, alluvial set lakes, delta set lakes, oxbow lakes, lagoons and so forth. The lakes can be divided into two major groups: mountain lakes and lowland lakes. In the mountainous areas, the lakes are tectonic lakes, landslide-dammed lakes and glacial lakes. In the semi-arid Apsheron Peninsula, some lakes are salt lakes. During the dry summer months, heat from the Sun evaporates most of these lakes, leaving ...

Lakes And Reservoirs Of Melbourne
Melbourne is the capital city of southeastern Australian state of Victoria and also the nation's second most populous city, and has been consistently voted one of the most liveable cities in the world. Located on the northern/eastern coastal plains of Port Phillip Bay, the city is the one of the drier capital cities in Australia (with an annual rainfall only half of Sydney's), but due to its relatively flat terrain and the runoffs fed from surrounding highlands, still has many lakes, ponds and wetlands, mainly managed by Melbourne Water and Parks Victoria. The larger waterbodies are used for water sports, mostly boating (especially sailing, rowing, canoeing and kayaking) but some are used for recreational activities like swimming, water skiing or model boating. Melbourne also has a number of major artificial lakes as storage reservoirs that supply the city's drinking water, as well as many smaller service reservoirs or retention ponds used either for stormwater management or as a ...

List Of Lakes Of Australia
Natural freshwater lakes in Australia are rare due to the general absence of glacial and tectonic activity in Australia. Types Most lakes in Australia fall within one of five categories. Excluding lakes created by man-made dams for water storage and other purposes, one can identify the following: * coastal lakes and lagoons including perched lakes; * natural freshwater inland lakes, often ephemeral and some part of wetland or swamp areas; * the Main Range containing mainland Australia's five glacial lakes. In Tasmania, due to glaciation, there are a large number of natural freshwater lakes on the central plateau, many of which have been enlarged or modified by hydro-electric developments; * predominantly dry, salt lakes in the flat desert regions of the country lacking organised drainage; and * lakes created in volcanic remnants.
