It us used to indicate a part of the city, usually a square or section of a square. The term ''liston'' refers to the long marble slabs used for paving the streets. The term ''far el liston'' means "to walk around the square". Several cities in the Veneto have a ''liston''. Liston, Essex
Liston is a small village and civil parish in North Essex, England, located one mile WSW of Long Melford, on the banks of the River Stour. Its parish church dates back to the 12th century, in parts. The parish borders the River Stour, the boundary between Essex and Suffolk. The population of the village is included in the civil parish of Foxearth. One of the earliest written documents that mentions Liston is the will of Æthelflæd of Damerham who died between 962 and 991. Her father was Ealdorman Ælfgar who was trying to establish a monastic community at Stoke by Nayland where his family had been buried. She left Liston to Æthelmear a kinsman. She was married three times; first to Ealdoman Byrhtnoth who died at the Battle of Maldon, then to King Edmund in 944 and finally after his death to either Æthelstan Rota, or Æthelstan Half-King. Liston, New South Wales
Liston is a small mountain village in northern New South Wales, Australia in Tenterfield Shire local government area. It lies just inside the eastern boundary of the New South Wales, Queensland border on the old Cobb & Co route, now the Mount Lindesay Highway, which used to extend from Brisbane to Tenterfield, New South Wales. Liston was once a thriving community centre for a busy tin and silver mining industry. It still reflects the Australian lifestyle from many years ago when people relied on tank water for drinking and washing, septic toilet systems and wood fire heating in winter. While Liston is part of New South Wales, the closest major town is the Queensland country town of Stanthorpe, which is approximately 15 km away by paved roads. Liston College
Liston College is a school in Henderson, Auckland, New Zealand, for year seven to 13 boys and offers a Catholic education to its students. It was the second school opened by the Christian Brothers in Auckland. It was named after Archbishop Liston (1881–1976), the seventh Catholic Bishop of Auckland (1929–1970).
