Sorø Municipality
Sorø Municipality is a municipality (Danish, '' kommune'') in Region Sjælland on the island of Zealand (''Sjælland'') in east Denmark. The municipality covers an area of , and has a total population of 29,331 (2015). The main town and the site of its municipal council is the town of Sorø. Other towns in the municipality are Dianalund, Stenlille, and Ruds Vedby. On 1 January 2007 Sorø municipality was, as the result of ''Kommunalreformen'' ("The Municipal Reform" of 2007), merged with existing Dianalund and Stenlille municipalities to form the new Sorø municipality. Tersløsegaard
Tersløsegaard is a manor house located close to Dianalund, Sorø Municipality some 60 kilometres southwest of Copenhagen, Denmark. It was owned by Ludvig Holberg from 1745 to 1756. He left it to Sorø Academy and it has now been converted into a self-owning foundation and contains a Holberg exhibition. The main building was listed on the Danish registry of protected buildings and places by the Danish Heritage Agency on in 1918. History Early history Tersløsegaard traces its history back to the 13th century. The first known owner was Anders Knudsen Grosøn. He was married to Esbern Snare's daughter. It was acquired by Jens Grubbe in 1305 and was then owned by his descendants for more than a hundred years. The last member of the Grubbe family to own Tersløsegaard was Niels Grubbe. He had no sons and the estate was therefore passed on to his son-in-law Anders Jensen Passow. Vedbygård
Vedbygård is a former manor house located within the village of Ruds Vedby, north-east of Høng, Sorø Municipality, Denmark. The oldest parts of the house date from the 15th century and are in the Late Gothic style. History Early history The first known reference to Vedbygård is from the early 14th century. Early owners include Queen Margaret I of Denmark, and after a period of private ownership it once again came under the Crown in 1369. The Ruds of Ruds Vedby In 1429, Jørgen Mikkelsen Rud acquired Vedbygård from the king in exchange for Skjoldenæsholm. He died the same year, leaving the estate to his son, Mikkel Jørgensen Rud, who was knighted by King Christopher, probably in connection with his coronation at Ribe in 1443, and served as his vassal () at Kalundborg from 1453–1460, possibly also at Korsør 1458–1462. Ruds Vedby, in Sorø Municipality, is a small town located on the railway between Tølløse and Høng in West Zealand, eastern Denmark. Ruds Vedby is located 18 km north of Slagelse, 8 km west of Dianalund and 20 km north-west of Sorø. As of 1 January 2022, the population was 1,696. Sorø Pharmacy
Sorø Pharmacy (Danish: Sorø Apotek) is located on Storgade in Sorø, Denmark. The current buildings date from the 1840s and were listed on the Danish registry of protected buildings and places in 1949. History 17th century Sorø Pharmacy was established on 20 March 1606 by Anders Christensen (1551–1606); but he died in November that same year, and a royal license was subsequently not issued to a new pharmacist. Joachim Burser, who was a professor at Sorø Academy, reopened the pharmacy in January 1631. The pharmacy was continued after Burser's death by his widow, son and grandson. His grandson Johannes Burser chose to close it when he opened the Swan Pharmacy in Slagelse on 30 April 1673. 18th century The pharmacy in Sorø was reopened by Christian Ludvig Martini on 22 March 1748, and he operated it until his death in 1779.
