This article lists the oldest extant buildings in Oregon, including extant buildings and structures constructed prior to and during the United States rule over Oregon. Only buildings built prior to 1860 are suitable for inclusion on this list, or the building must be the oldest of its type. In order to qualify for the list, a structure must: * be a recognizable building (defined as any human-made structure used or intended for supporting or sheltering any use or continuous occupancy); * incorporate features of building work from the claimed date to at least in height and/or be a listed building. This consciously excludes ruins of limited height, roads and statues. Bridges may be included if they otherwise fulfill the above criteria. Dates for many of the oldest structures have been arrived at by radiocarbon dating or dendrochronology and should be considered approximate. McLoughlin House National Historic Site
Fort Vancouver National Historic Site is a United States National Historic Site located in the states of Washington and Oregon. The National Historic Site consists of two units, one located on the site of Fort Vancouver in modern-day Vancouver, Washington; the other being the former residence of John McLoughlin in Oregon City, Oregon. The two sites were separately given national historic designation in the 1940s. The Fort Vancouver unit was designated a National Historic Site in 1961, and was combined with the McLoughlin House into a unit in 2003. Visitor Center The visitor center at Fort Vancouver National Historic Site was originally built in 1966 as a part of the National Park Service's Mission 66 Program. Forest Grove is a city in Washington County, Oregon, United States, west of Portland. Originally a small farm town, it is now primarily a commuter town in the Portland metro area. Now a ghost town, it was an important settlement in the Willamette Valley in the early 1840s.
