ONCF
ONCF (from French: ''Office National des Chemins de Fer''; ar, المكتب الوطني للسكك الحديدية ''Al-Maktab al-Waṭaniy lil-Sikak al-Ḥadīdiyyah''; ''Moroccan National Railways Office'') is Morocco's national railway operator. ONCF is a state-owned company that is under the control of the Ministry of Equipment, Transport and Logistics and is responsible for all passenger and freight traffic on the national railway network. The company is also responsible for building and maintaining the rail infrastructure. The ONCF employs around 7,845 employees and has a network of 3,600 km, all standard gauge of which 1,300 km is electrified (2015). The general director of ONCF is Mohamed Rabie Khlie. Oued Zem
Oued Zem is a city in Khouribga Province, Béni Mellal-Khénifra, Morocco. According to the 2014 Moroccan census, Oued Zem had a population of 95,267. Wadi Zem is a Moroccan city located in central Morocco, in the Chaouia-Ouardigha region in the Khouribga province, on an area of 75,000 hectares between the axis of Casablanca, Beni Mellal and between the axis of Rabat, Marrakech, with a population of 83,970 people (2004 census). The city is rich in phosphate, iron and marble. The first railway was erected there in 1917, during the discovery of phosphate for the first time in Morocco by the colonizer at the time to export it abroad. The French called Wadi Zem in Little Paris, and they built a lake in the shape of a map of France, which is still to this day. The city played a major role in Morocco's independence thanks to the ferocity of its resistance. In rail transport, head-end power (HEP), also known as electric train supply (ETS), is the electrical power distribution system on a passenger train. The power source, usually a locomotive (or a generator car) at the front or 'head' of a train, provides the electricity used for heating, lighting, electrical and other 'hotel' needs. The maritime equivalent is hotel electric power. A successful attempt by the London, Brighton and South Coast Railway in October 1881 to light the passenger cars on the London to Brighton route heralded the beginning of using electricity to light trains in the world. EMD SW1001
The EMD SW1001 is a diesel locomotive for industrial switching service built by General Motors' Electro-Motive Division between September 1968 and June 1986. A total of 230 were constructed, mainly for North American railroads and industrial operations. The SW1001 was developed because EMD's SW1000 model had proved unpopular among industrial railroad customers, as the heights of its walkway and cab eaves were much greater than those of earlier EMD switcher models. The overall height was similar, but the SW1000's roof was much flatter in curvature. Industrial railroads that only operated switchers often had facilities designed to the proportions of EMD's earlier switchers. The SW1001, in essence, placed the hood and powertrain of the SW1000 with the underframe and cab of the earlier SW1200. EMD GT26CW-2
The GT26CW-2 is the Dash-2 variant of the GT26CW diesel-electric locomotive series created by the Electro-Motive Division (EMD) of General Motors for export to Iran, Israel, Morocco, Pakistan, Peru, South Korea, Turkey and Yugoslavia. Various licensees have also constructed or refurbished this model. It is similar to the highly successful SD40-2 North American locomotive. Iran The Islamic Republic of Iran Railways (RAI) purchased 80 GT26CW-2s along with 182 GT26CWs . All GT26CW locomotives were manufactured by General Motors Diesel Division of Chicago, Illinois, 20 GT26CW-2s were constructed by General Motors Diesel Division of London, Ontario and the remaining were built by Hyundai, a Korean licensee of General Motors Diesel Division. SNCF Class CC 72000
The SNCF Class CC 72000 was a class of C′C′ diesel-electric locomotives designed and built by French manufacturing conglomerate Alsthom. They are regarded as being the most powerful class of diesel locomotives to be built in France. Ninety-two locomotives were produced between 1967 and 1974, numbered CC 72001 to CC 72092. The last regular workings of the type were conducted during August 2019. Development and design During the 1960s, French national railway operator SNCF investigated the use of high-power diesel locomotives for heavy express trains on its non-electrified major lines.
