Shopping Mall
A shopping mall (or simply mall) is a North American term for a large indoor shopping center, usually anchored by department stores. The term "mall" originally meant a pedestrian promenade with shops along it (that is, the term was used to refer to the walkway itself which was merely bordered by such shops), but in the late 1960s, it began to be used as a generic term for the large enclosed shopping centers that were becoming commonplace at the time. In the U.K., such complexes are considered shopping centres (Commonwealth English: shopping centre), though "shopping center" covers many more sizes and types of centers than the North American "mall". Other countries may follow U.S. usage (Philippines, India, U.A.E., etc.) and others (Australia, etc.) follow U.K. usage. Glostrup
Glostrup is a Danish town in Region Hovedstaden, forming one of the western suburbs of Copenhagen. It is the administrative seat of Glostrup Municipality, with an estimated population of 22,357 . During the 20th century Glostrup developed from a small railroad town into a modern middle class suburb. The population reached a peak during the 1970s flight from central Copenhagen, but has since stabilized. While most of Copenhagens western suburbs are dominated by public housing projects, Glostrups mix is around the Danish average. Brabrand () is a postal district of Aarhus Municipality, Denmark. South of Brabrand, in the Aarhus river-valley, is the largest recreational area of Aarhus Municipality, comprising the Brabrand Lake and the meadow-lake of Årslev, with surrounding natural sites. Galleru K, formerly Crome & Goldschmidt, is a shopping mall, shopping arcade situated on Strøget in central Copenhagen, Denmark. Completed in 1901, the building occupies the entire block between Kristen Bernikows Gade, Østergade (Strøget), Antonigade and Pilestræde. History The former building at the site was acquired by Crome & Goldschmidt in 1884 and the company opened a department store in the building in 1887. In 1897, two developers, J. Fisker and A. Volmer, purchased the buildings long the street. They constructed a new building known as Volmerhus at the site in connection with a widening of Kristen Bernikows Gade. It was designed by Erik Schiødte (1849-1909) and Christian Arntzen (1852-1911). Crome & Goldschmidt remained a tenant in the building and installed Denmark's first escalators in it in 1927. Hellerup () is a very affluent district of Gentofte Municipality in the suburbs of Copenhagen, Denmark.
