Ishøj Municipality (Danish: ''Ishøj Kommune'') is a municipality (Danish: '' kommune'') in Region Hovedstaden on the island of Zealand (''Sjælland'') in eastern Denmark. The municipality covers 26 km², with a total population of 21,675 (1 April 2014), many of whom are Pakistani, African, Arab, or Turkish immigrants. Its mayor is Ole Bjørstorp, a member of the Social Democrats (''Socialdemokraterne'') political party. The main town, and the site of the municipal council, is the town of Ishøj, which has one of Scandinavia's biggest housing projects - Vejleåparken (formerly Ishøjplanen). More than 76% of the people living there are immigrants or have immigrant parents. Consequently, Ishøj has many nicknames, for instance such as Istanhøj (a merge between the names Istanbul and Ishøj). Riza Durmisi (, al, Riza Durmishi; born 8 January 1994) is a Danish professional footballer who plays as a left-back for Spanish club Tenerife, on loan from the Italian club Lazio. Ertuğrul Tekşen (born 25 April 2000) is a Danish-born Turkish professional footballer who plays as a forward for TFF Third League club Belediye Kütahyaspor. Club career Early years Tekşen started playing football at an early age in Ishøj with local club SB 50. He soon moved to the Brøndby youth academy, where he initially struggled. Ishøj Gymnasium
Ishøj Gymnasium was a secondary school located in Ishøj near Copenhagen, Denmark. The school was originally run by the County of Copenhagen, but was acquired by a private organization, CPH West, in 2007. When CPH West merged with Copenhagen Technical College to form NEXT Uddannelse København in 2016, the school was dissolved. Today, the campus is known as Sydkysten Gymnasium. Benzonsdal
Benzonsdal is a manor house located at Torslunde, south of Taastrup, in the northern part of Ishøj Municipality, some 20 kilometres west of central Copenhagen, Denmark. It has been owned by members of the noble Lerche family since 1853. The main building is from 1856. History Benzon family Benzonsdal was established by Supreme Court justice Peder Benzon in 1730 from land that had until then belonged to Gjeddesdal. The aim was to secure a more simple and efficient management of the land. Benzon was a major landowner who also established the manors of Benzonseje (now Risbyholm), Dønnerup and Gislingegård. He had previously been the owner of Hagestedgaard and Alslevgård. The new manor comprised 50 tenant farms, 100 smallholdings, a brickyard and four watermills.
