San Luis Potosí
San Luis Potosí (), officially the Free and Sovereign State of San Luis Potosí ( es, Estado Libre y Soberano de San Luis Potosí), is one of the 32 states which compose the Federal Entities of Mexico. It is divided in 58 municipalities and its capital city is San Luis Potosí City. Located in Central Mexico, San Luis Potosí is bordered by seven other Mexican states: Nuevo León to the north; Tamaulipas to the north-east; Veracruz to the east; Hidalgo, Querétaro and Guanajuato to the south; and Zacatecas to north-west. In addition to the capital city, other major cities in the state include Ciudad Valles, Matehuala, Rioverde, and Tamazunchale. XEXQ-AM
XEXQ-AM is a radio station in San Luis Potosí, San Luis Potosí. It broadcasts on 1190 kHz and is one of two radio stations owned by the Universidad Autónoma de San Luis Potosí, known as Radio Universidad 1190 AM. XEXQ is the second-oldest university radio station in Mexico, behind XEUN-AM, Radio UNAM. Grupo ACIR is a Mexican media company specializing in the operation of radio stations. It was established in 1965. ACIR is an acronym for ''Asociación de Concesionarios Independientes de Radio'' (Association of Independent Radio Concessionaires). History Grupo ACIR was founded on June 8, 1965, when Francisco Ibarra bought the XEDQ-AM (Radio Alegría) station in San Andrés Tuxtla, Veracruz. During the next two years, three new radio stations were integrated: XEOM-AM in Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz, XEMM-AM in Morelia, Michoacán, XEMIA-AM in Guadalajara, Jalisco; and three stations of amplitude modulation in the Mexico City: XEL-AM Radio Capital, XEFR-AM Radio Felicidad and XEVOZ-AM Radio Voz. XHRASA-FM
XHRASA-FM is a radio station on 94.1 FM in San Luis Potosí, San Luis Potosí, Mexico. It is owned by Cadena RASA and carries its Candela grupera format. History XEEQ-AM 760 received its concession on April 22, 1964. It was owned by Radio Potosina, S.A. and broadcast as a 250-watt daytimer with the name "La Pantera" and a rock format. In the 1980s, XEEQ affiliated to Radiorama. Radiorama, however, experienced some corporate turbulence in the mid-1990s, and XEEQ left the group, declared bankruptcy and was shuttered for two years. After going dark, the station returned with a new frequency, new call letters and a higher power. XHEI-FM
XHEI-FM is a radio station in San Luis Potosí City, San Luis Potosí, Mexico. Broadcasting on 93.1 FM, XHEI is owned by Grupo AS and is known as Romántica with a romantic music format. History XEEI-AM 1070 signed on in 1985 as Radiorama's first affiliated station in San Luis Potosí, known as Radio Servicio Social and owned by a concessionaire of the same name; its concession was awarded March 12, 1986. In the early 1990s, after doubling its power, XEEI became "La Mexicana", later "Fiesta Mexicana", and then "Romántica 10-70" in January 1999. In 2002, MG Radio took over operations of the station, which became known as "Momentos 10-70". Grupo Radiorama
Grupo Radiorama is the largest owner and operator of radio stations in Mexico. Founded in 1970, the company operated nearly 400 radio stations in 2014. History Radiorama was founded on December 9, 1970, by Javier Pérez de Anda and Adrián Pereda López. The two founders had previous experience at other radio groups, such as Organización Radio Centro and Radiópolis. Radiorama started with 7 stations, but grew to 150 by 1985. XHSS-FM
XHSS-FM is a radio station on 91.9 FM in San Luis Potosí, San Luis Potosí. It is owned by Grupo AS and carries its La Poderosa grupera format. History XHSS received its concession on November 28, 1988. It was owned by Radiorama through subsidiary Voz y Música, S.A., but was regularly farmed out to other radio groups. In 2002, MG Radio began operating the station with Romance, a romantic format. In early 2006, Radio S.A. tried its hand at running XHSS, placing its Máxima pop format on the station. MG Radio returned to XHSS in January 2008, restoring the Romance name and format; two years later, that moved to XESL-AM 1340 as Radiorama retook control of XHSS. The first format on the station after Radiorama took control was Xtrema, a pop format. On March 1, 2016, XHSS picked up the La Poderosa grupera format. XHWZ-FM
XHWZ-FM is a radio station on 90.9 FM in San Luis Potosí, San Luis Potosí. It is owned by MG Radio and carries the La Mejor grupera format from MVS Radio. History XEWZ-AM 820 received its concession on May 8, 1979. It was owned by Sergio Ramírez Hernández and broadcast from Cerritos with 1 kW as a daytimer. It moved to Soledad Diez Gutiérrez and 620 kHz in the 1990s, broadcasting with 2.5 kW in the day and 500 watts at night and reaching a much wider audience. On June 7, 2012, XHWZ-FM 90.9 came to air. In September 2013, it flipped from its longtime format of Radio Novedades to become adult contemporary MÁS FM, operated by MG Radio. Radio Fórmula
Radio Fórmula is a Mexican talk radio network. Founded in 1968, Radio Fórmula programs are broadcast on more than 100 stations in Mexico as well as several stations in the United States. It is the flagship product of Grupo Fórmula, which also owns the TeleFórmula cable news network and PM Onstreet, an outdoor advertising firm. History Grupo Formula traces its beginnings to 1968, when several Mexico City stations were split from Emilio Azcárraga Vidaurreta’s Radiópolis system. Among these was XEDF-AM 970. By 1984, Radio Fórmula operated five Mexico City stations: 970 AM, 1470 AM, 1500 AM, 103.3 FM and 104.1 FM. On September 19, 1985, Radio Fórmula's headquarters in downtown Mexico City were destroyed by an 8.1 earthquake, which killed several hosts and employees and knocked the AM stations off the air for nearly a month (the FM stations' transmitters are based at the Torre Latinoamericana).
