Chennai (, ), formerly known as Madras ( the official name until 1996), is the capital city of Tamil Nadu, the southernmost Indian state. Sowcarpet
Sowcarpet is a neighborhood in the northern part of Chennai, India. Sowcarpet is one of the oldest neighborhoods of the city with narrow streets and vintage buildings. It is a bustling commercial area of the city, and a range of wholesale markets are located here. The locality is known as the North Indian hub of Chennai owing to the presence of the North Indian community here. Sowcarpet is home to the largest Marwadi community in South India. Kolathur is a neighborhood located in the northwestern region of Chennai, India. Demographics As per Census of India 2011, the total population of Kolathur, Chennai was 1,10,474. Maaththoor ( ta, மாத்தூர்) formerly known as Mathur is a residential area located north of Chennai, a metropolitan city in Tamil Nadu, India. Maaththoor is administered by the Greater Chennai Corporation and belongs to Madhavaram taluk of Chennai district.
