List Of Neighborhoods And Districts In Baghdad
This article lists neighborhoods and the nine administrative districts within 50 km of Baghdad, Iraq. The order is not alphabetical, but is instead arranged according to whether the neighborhood is east or west of the Tigris and then grouped roughly by north–south order. Place names may be affected by differences in translation of Arabic to English. If sourced information on the location was not available, the neighborhood is grouped in the unknown section in alphabetical order. According to a report published by the New York Times on June 3, 2007, there are 457 distinct neighborhoods in Baghdad. Neighborhood
A neighbourhood (British English, Irish English, Australian English and Canadian English) or neighborhood (American English; see spelling differences) is a geographically localised community within a larger city, town, suburb or rural area, sometimes consisting of a single street and the buildings lining it. Neighbourhoods are often social communities with considerable face-to-face interaction among members. Al-Saydiya ( ar, السيدية) is a neighborhood in the Al Rashid district of southwestern Baghdad, Iraq. Baiyaa is to the north and Dora to the east. Shurta Al-Khamsa
''Shurṭa'' ( ar, شرطة) is the common Arabic term for police, although its precise meaning is that of a "picked" or elite force. Bodies termed ''shurṭa'' were established in the early days of the Caliphate, perhaps as early as the caliphate of Uthman (644–656). In the Umayyad and Abbasid Caliphates, the ''shurṭa'' had considerable power, and its head, the ''ṣāḥib al-shurṭa'' ( ar, صاحب الشرطة), was an important official, whether at the provincial level or in the central government. Al - Bayaa’ (Arabic: البياع) is a lower-middle-class neighborhood in the Al Rashid, Baghdad, Al Rashid district in western Baghdad, Iraq, along the Baghdad Airport Road. Hayy Al-A'amel, Al-A'amel is to the west and Al-Saydiya to the south. First known as Al-Bayaa City, it was named after and built by (Haj) Ali Al-Bayaa. Al Rashid, Baghdad
Al Rasheed or Al Rashid ( ar, اَلرَّشِيْد) is one of the nine administrative districts in Baghdad, Iraq. It is in southern Baghdad, on the western side of the Tigris River. Mansour district is to the north of the western half of the district, on the other side of the Baghdad Airport Road. Yarmouk (Arabic, اليرموك) is an upmarket neighborhood (67th) located within Mansour district in Baghdad, Iraq, and adjacent to Baghdad Airport Road. Al-A'amiriya
Al-A'amiriya (Arabic العامرية) is a neighborhood in the Mansour district of western Baghdad, Iraq, on the way to Anbar Province. The name is also written Amariya, Amariyah, Ameria, Ameriya, Amerya, Amiriya and Amiriyah. It used to be an upper-class neighbourhood until sectarian war in 2006.
