The Oval (also known as the Kennington Oval and, due to sponsorship reasons, the Kia Oval) is a cricket ground in London, England, it was established in 1845 and has a capacity of 23,500. International cricket has been played at the ground since 1880, when England played Australia in the first Test match staged in England. One Day Internationals (ODIs) have also been played at the ground, the first of these was in 1973 between England and the West Indies. 175 Test centuries have been scored at the Oval along with 38 ODI centuries. The Englishman W. G. Grace scored the first Test century at the ground, Grace made 152 against Australia in 1880. In 1938 Len Hutton, another Englishman, broke the record for the highest individual Test innings. Hutton, with his score of 364, surpassed Wally Hammond's previous record of 336 not out. Billy Murdoch
William Lloyd Murdoch (18 October 1854 – 18 February 1911) was an Australian cricketer who captained the Australian national side in 16 Test matches between 1880 and 1890. This included four tours of England, one of which, in 1882, gave rise to The Ashes. In 2019 Murdoch was inducted into the Australian Cricket Hall of Fame. Although Victorian-born, Murdoch was raised in Sydney, and played his Australian domestic cricket for New South Wales, making his first-class debut in 1875. His Test debut came in 1877, in what was retrospectively classed as the second Test match to be played. Murdoch began his career as a wicket-keeper, but at Test level kept wicket only once, with Jack Blackham being preferred. A delivery or ball in cricket is a single action of bowling a cricket ball toward the batsman. Once the ball has been delivered, batsmen may attempt to score runs, with the bowler and other fielders attempting to stop this by getting the batsmen out. When the ball becomes dead, the next delivery can begin. During play of the game, a member of the fielding team is designated as the bowler, and bowls deliveries toward the batsman. Six legal balls in a row constitutes an over, after which a different member of the fielding side takes over the role of bowler for the next over. In cricket, a batter is not out if they come out to bat in an innings and have not been dismissed by the end of an innings. The batter is also ''not out'' while their innings is still in progress. Shikhar Dhawan (born 5 December 1985) is an Indian cricketer. Being a left-handed opening batsman and occasional captain of the India national cricket team, he captains Punjab Kings in the Indian Premier League and plays for Delhi in first-class cricket.
