List Of Hotels In Sri Lanka
According to Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA), there are 156 classified tourist hotels and 239 unclassified tourist hotels in Sri Lanka. Additionally, there are 36 boutique hotels, 46 boutique villas and 493 bungalows in the country. The classified hotels collectively have a capacity of 14,232 rooms, including 25 five-star hotels and 24 four-star hotels. SLTDA's grading is based on the criteria set by the World Tourism Organization. In 2011, the classified hotels accounted for 70% of the total room capacity in the industry. A number of accommodation facilities that built during the British colonial era have been converted to high-class hotels later. Jetwing Vil Uyana ( si, ජෙට්විංග් විල් උයන, lit=Jetwing Lake Garden) is a boutique hotel, boutique eco hotel situated in Sigiriya, Sri Lanka. Jetwing Vil Uyana was launched in 2006 and inspired by the WWT London Wetland Centre, Barnes Wetland, London. Jetwing Vil Uyana is owned and operated by the Sri Lankan hotel chain Jetwing Hotels. The hotel was built in 2006 by converting an abandoned paddy field into an artificial wetland. Environmental architect Sunela Jayawardena designed the hotel. Cinnamon Citadel Kandy, formerly known as The Citadel Kandy, is a four-star hotel located in Kandy, Sri Lanka. The hotel is located on the bank of the Mahaweli River. The hotel's main deck is decorated with Dumbara weaving designs and an 18-foot handwoven wall hanging by Ena de Silva. Stereophonics
Stereophonics are a Welsh rock band formed in 1992 in the village of Cwmaman in the Cynon Valley, Wales. The band consists of Kelly Jones (lead vocals, lead guitar, keyboards), Richard Jones (bass guitar, harmonica, backing vocals), Adam Zindani (rhythm guitar, backing vocals), Jamie Morrison (drums, percussion) and touring member Tony Kirkham (keyboards). Kelly Jones
Kelly Jones (born 3 June 1974) is a Welsh singer-songwriter and a founding member, lead singer, and guitarist of the rock band Stereophonics. Early life and debut Kelly Jones was born youngest of three boys for Beryl and Arwyn Jones in the small Welsh former mining village of Cwmaman, Rhondda Cynon Taf, spending his childhood with them and his two older brothers, Kevin and Lee. Helga's Folly is an art nouveau boutique hotel situated in Kandy, Sri Lanka owned by Helga de Silva Blow Perera, daughter of Fredrick de Silva. Gregory Peck, Peter Finch, William Holden, Mahatma Gandhi, Vivien Leigh, Laurence Olivier, Jawaharlal Nehru, and Kelly Jones of the Stereophonics are some of the notable guests who stayed at the hotel. Empire Hotel, Kandy
The Empire Hotel, Kandy or Olde Empire Hotel, is a small two-storey heritage hotel located on Temple Road in the Kandy city centre. The hotel is located opposite the park/garden ( Mahamaluwa) of the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic (Sri Dalada Maligawa), adjacent to Queens Hotel and the former Kandy court complex. The hotel was opened on 27 December 1898 by Porolis C. Fernando and it has been operated by the Fernando family ever since. Wijeya Newspapers Limited (WNL) is a Sri Lankan media company which publishes a number of national newspapers and magazines. Formerly known as Wijeya Publications Limited, WNL was founded in 1979 by Ranjith Wijewardene, son of media mogul D. R. Wijewardena. Ranjith Wijewardene had been chairman of Associated Newspapers of Ceylon Limited before it was taken over by the government in July 1973. A hanging scroll is one of the many traditional ways to display and exhibit East Asian painting and calligraphy.
