Clackamas is an unincorporated community and former census-designated place (CDP) in Clackamas County, Oregon, United States, and is a suburb of Portland. The population was approximately 7,000 . Clackamas is home to Camp Withycombe, which is a military base, and to a branch of the Kaiser Permanente Hospital. Clackamas Town Center Shooting
On December 11, 2012, a shooting occurred at the Clackamas Town Center in the relatively urban section of Clackamas County, just outside the city of Portland, Oregon, United States. The gunman, 22-year-old Jacob Tyler Roberts, ran into the shopping center wearing black clothing and a white expressionless facial mask and sporadically opened fire using a Stag Arms AR-15 rifle stolen from a friend. He fired a total of 17 shots, killing two people and seriously wounding a third. Many shots were ricochets. Having attempted to reload his weapon and dropping three magazines, Roberts entered an employee-only back stairwell that runs behind all stores in the mall and committed suicide after descending one level. Newport, Oregon
Newport is a city in Lincoln County, Oregon, United States. It was incorporated in 1882, though the name dates back to the establishment of a post office in 1868. Newport was named for Newport, Rhode Island. Background Originating from Ypsilanti Township, Michigan, Longo married Mary Jane Baker at age 19 and had three children with her. Thurston High School Shooting
The Thurston High School shooting occurred on May 21, 1998, at Thurston High School in Springfield, Oregon. 15-year-old freshman student Kipland Kinkel, who had been scheduled to appear at an expulsion hearing the day prior, murdered his parents before killing two of his classmates and wounding 25 others. The shooting ended when a group of students managed to subdue Kinkel, leading to his arrest. Kinkel pled guilty to murder and attempted murder and was sentenced to 111 years in prison without the possibility of parole. Medford is a city in and the county seat of Jackson County, Oregon, in the United States. Leathers Oil Company Murders
The Leathers Oil Company murders refers to an unsolved mass murder that occurred in Gresham, Oregon, United States, on January 17, 1994. The victims were Virginia Kay Endecott (born July 15, 1946); Rosealie Fey-Girtz (born September 17, 1942); and Mary Beth Carey (born May 16, 1968), each of whom were employed at the Leathers Oil Company gas station. Their bodies were discovered in a storage room on the premises, each having been shot to death. The station was also robbed of approximately US$9,000. Tyrom Walter Thies (born April 14, 1973), a former employee at the gas station who had been terminated for stealing in August 1993, was charged with three counts of aggravated murder, but disappeared a few weeks after the victims' bodies were discovered.
