Capitale-Nationale (; en, National Capital region) is one of the 17 List of Quebec regions, administrative regions of Quebec. It is anchored by the provincial capital, Quebec City, and is largely coextensive with that city's Communauté métropolitaine de Québec, metropolitan area. It has a land area of 18,797.45 km2. It reported a total resident population of 729,997 as of the Canada 2016 Census, with Quebec City having 73.7 percent of the total. Saint-Jean-de-l'Île-d'Orléans
Saint-Jean-de-l'Île-d'Orléans is a municipality in the Capitale-Nationale region of Quebec, Canada. It is part of the L'Île-d'Orléans Regional County Municipality, on the southeastern side of Île d'Orléans. Prior to April 5, 2003, it was known simply as Saint-Jean. History The area was first colonized early in the 17th century. In 1680, a mission was founded and served by the priest of Sainte-Famille. In 1714, the Parish of Saint-Jean-Baptiste was formed and became a civil parish in 1722. It is believed that this name commemorates Jean de Lauson, Seneschal in New France and son of Governor Lauson, born circa 1620 and killed at the mouth of the Maheu River in 1661 by the Iroquois. Nevertheless, it could also be attributed to John the Baptist in line with the many other religious toponyms on the island. Maison Morisset
The Maison Morisset (also known by its nickname "La Brimbale"Denis Lavallée, René Pronovost, La Maison Morisset, , monograph, 37 pages, 2007.) is a farmhouse built in 1678 during the seigneurial system of New France. Located in the municipality of Sainte-Famille on Île d'Orléans, the Maison Morisset was classified as a historic site and building by the Ministry of Culture and Communications of Quebec on June 7, 1962. It is reputed to be the oldest stone house in the province of Quebec. Saint-François-de-l'Île-d'Orléans
Saint-François-de-l'Île-d'Orléans is a municipality in the Capitale-Nationale region of Quebec, Canada, part of the L'Île-d'Orléans Regional County Municipality. The village is situated on the north-eastern tip of Orléans Island, and the municipality also includes the Madame and Ruau Islands, part of the Montmagny Archipelago. Prior to December 20, 2003, it was known simply as Saint-François. History The Parish of Saint-François-de-Sales was founded in 1679, named after Francis de Sales (1567-1622) and calling to mind Francois Berthelot, Comte de Jouy and de Saint-Laurent, representative of Paris in parliament and Seigneur of Île d'Orléans (1675) at the time the parish was established. Cap-Santé
Cap-Santé is a town in the Canadian province of Quebec. It is the county seat of Portneuf Regional County Municipality and was as well the county seat of the designated Portneuf County, Quebec, Portneuf County. The name of the town means "Cape Health". Cap-Santé is on the northern bank of the Saint Lawrence River, west of Quebec City. Legend has it that this community's name was coined when soldiers suffering from an unknown disease miraculously recovered from a cure discovered in the village. The old settlement is situated just west of the nearby Jacques-Cartier River and on the embankment of the Saint Lawrence River. History The first settlers arrived around 1679, and in 1714 the village became an official parish. The present-day church, a historical-registered building, was built from 1754 to 1767. Sainte-Brigitte-de-Laval is a city in La Jacques-Cartier Regional County Municipality in the Capitale-Nationale region of Quebec, Canada. Its urban area is located in the hollow of the Montmorency River valley, northeast of Quebec City. The city is named in honor of Brigid of Kildare as a recall the irish origin of the first settlers. Saint-Pierre-de-l'Île-d'Orléans
Saint-Pierre-de-l'Île-d'Orléans is a municipality in the Capitale-Nationale region of Quebec, Canada, part of the L'Île-d'Orléans Regional County Municipality. It is situated on the west side of Orléans Island, and accessible by Quebec Route 368 and the Île d'Orléans Bridge which connects Saint-Pierre with the Beauport borough of Quebec City. Until 1997, it was known simply as Saint-Pierre. The Quebec poet and songwriter Félix Leclerc (1914-1988) is buried in this town, having lived there from 1958 to his death.
