Maryville, Tennessee
Maryville is a city in and the county seat of Blount County, Tennessee, and is a suburb of Knoxville. Its population was 31,907 at the 2020 census. It is included in the Knoxville Metropolitan Area and a short distance from popular tourist destinations such as the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Dollywood, Gatlinburg, and Pigeon Forge. History When the first European explorers arrived in the area, they found the Great Indian Warpath, which ran along the route where the modern US-411 has been built. Jacksboro is a town in Campbell County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 2,020 at the 2010 census, and 2,306 at the 2020 census. It is the county seat of Campbell County. History Jacksboro was founded in 1806 as a permanent county seat for the newly created Campbell County. The initial property for the town square was deeded by Hugh Montgomery, one of the earliest settlers in the area. The town was originally known as Walnut Grove, but was renamed "Jacksonboro" in honor of Andrew Jackson in 1819. The name was later shortened to "Jacksboro." Geography Jacksboro is located at . Tennessee Christian Preparatory School (TCPS), formerly Tennessee Christian Academy (TCA) is a private Christian college preparatory school located in Cleveland, Tennessee. It is the only state-accredited private college preparatory school in the immediate area. History TCPS was founded in 1997 by a group of parents committed to Christian education. When initially founded, the school was named Tennessee Christian Academy. In 2008, school administrators increased academic rigor, tightened admissions policies and began to focus on providing college-preparatory education for all students. Cleveland High School (CHS) is a public high school in the Cleveland City Schools system located in Cleveland, Tennessee. The school was founded in 1967 and serves 1,662 students in grades 9 to 12. It was founded in 1916, and is part of the Bradley County Schools system. The school maintains a crosstown rivalry with Cleveland High School, as well as fellow county rival Walker Valley High School. History The school opened its doors on September 11, 1916, and was the second public high school in the county, after Charleston High School in Charleston, which opened in 1913. The original campus was located on the present site of Ocoee Middle School, and was called Central High School at first. History The land now occupied by Charleston and Bradley County was home to the Cherokee long before European settlers arrived. Walker Valley High School (WVHS) is a public high school in the Bradley County Schools system located in the northern part of Bradley County, Tennessee near Charleston.
