McClymonds High School
McClymonds High School is a public high school in the West Oakland neighborhood of Oakland, California, Oakland, California, United States. In addition to being the third oldest high school in Oakland, it is the only comprehensive high school in West Oakland, operated by the Oakland Unified School District. It was nicknamed the "School of Champions" in the early 1960s, after a number of award-winning athletes attended. History Early history (1915–2005) It started in January 1915 in a small building formerly occupied by Oakland Technical High School. Originally, 60 students were enrolled in the school, which at that time was called Vocational High School. It was the first public school in California to offer summer school. Fremont High School (Oakland, California)
Fremont High School is an urban public high school located in East Oakland, California, United States. It was formerly a group of smaller high schools located on the same campus and known as Fremont Federation of High Schools. The school's present configuration is that of the "wall to wall" career academies model, consisting of a 9th Grade House which feeds into one of two California Partnership Academies (CPA), specifically the Architecture Academy and the Media Academy. History Fremont High is part of the Oakland Unified School District, and located at 4610 Foothill Boulevard since 1905. A fire in 1930 destroyed much of the original campus, which was rebuilt. Most of those buildings, in turn, were renovated, with some structures demolished and rebuilt, during the mid-to-late 1970s as part of a statewide program of retrofitting schools for earthquake safety. Castlemont High School
Castlemont High School is a public high school in Oakland, California, United States, originally known as East Oakland High School. It is part of the Oakland Unified School District. The Castlemont name was selected by a vote of the students. Castlemont High School was founded in 1929 in a medieval-style building. The architecture inspires many of the school traditions, such as the sports teams being named "Knights" and "Crusaders" and the school newspaper ''Ye Castle Crier''. The motto is "''Build on and make thy castles high and fair, rising upward to the skies.''" Newark Memorial High School
Newark Memorial High School (NMHS) is a comprehensive high school in Newark, California, United States. It is part of the Newark Unified School District (NUSD). History Newark Memorial High School was formed in 1983 as part of a school consolidation program instituted by NUSD. Prior to this, Newark had two high schools (Newark High School on Lafayette Avenue, and Memorial High School on Cedar Boulevard) and two "intermediate schools" for grades 78 (M. D. Silva Intermediate School on Thornton Avenue and John I. MacGregor Intermediate School on Cedar Boulevard). In 1983, both M. D. Silva and John I. MacGregor were closed and the former Newark High School was converted into Newark's only junior high school, Newark Junior High School. James Logan High School (also known as JLHS or Logan) is a public high school located in Union City, California. It is part of the New Haven Unified School District in the San Francisco Bay Area. Awards In 1994 and 1998, Logan was recognized as a California Distinguished School by the California Department of Education. Logan was recognized in 1983 and 1987 as a Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education. History James Logan High School was named after pioneer James Logan, who came to Alvarado (former settlement, now part of Union City) from Derry, Ireland in 1885. It is one of two comprehensive high schools in the Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District, with Granada High School being the other.
