Aerocancun
Aerocancun was an airline based in Mexico, that operated from 1989 to 1996. Company details Aerocancun was based in Cancún, Quintana Roo, and operated charter flights to cities in the U.S. and Canada, including Miami, New Orleans, New York City, Oakland, Boston, Pittsburgh, Calgary and Edmonton. Aerocancun also operated flights to Europe, but these were canceled in 1994 due to financial problems caused by an economic recession. During 1994 and 1995, the airline concentrated on the South American market. Aerocancun was owned by Mexican hoteliers and the Spanish airline Oasis. When the Oasis group collapsed at the end of 1996, Aerocancun filed for bankruptcy. Aerolitoral, S.A. de C.V., DBA Aeroméxico Connect, and formerly known as Aerolitoral, is the regional airline of Aeroméxico operating Embraer E-190 aircraft, with crew bases in Mexico City and Monterrey. It is headquartered in Monterrey. It operates feeder services to AeroMéxico's hub airports, using four-digit flight numbers. Aerolíneas Internacionales S.A. de C.V. was a Mexican domestic airline headquartered in Mexico City and had a hub in Cuernavaca Airport. Despite its name (translating to "International Airlines"), the airline never actually operated outside Mexico. History Aerolíneas Internacionales started operations in July 1994 with a fleet of two Boeing 727 under its President Luis Rodriguez Dorantes and his brother, Alfredo Rodriguez Dorantes. The airline's permit was suspended by the Secretariat of Communications and Transport due to violations of safety inspections on its aircraft. Further, it had outstanding debts with Aeropuertos y Servicios Auxiliares, the Mexican Air Traffic Control (SENEAM) and the finance ministry ( SHCP) of over US$7 million. MexicanaClick, formerly Click Mexicana, was Mexicana's regional operator, serving most of Mexicana's domestic routes between more than 25 Mexican cities. It was founded as a low-cost carrier, but changed its market to regional operations after its acquisition by Mexicana. Its main base was Mexico City International Airport. History The airline was founded in 1975 and started operations on 12 July 1975 as Aerocaribe. It was formed by Yucatán private investors but was bought by Corporación Mexicana de Aviación on 23 August 1990. It operated regional services under the Mexicana Inter banner using Fairchild FH-227 and Douglas DC-9-30 aircraft (as of January 2005). Mexicana decided to transfer its fleet of Fokker 100 aircraft to Aerocaribe and rebrand the airline, with Click Mexicana starting operations in July 2005.
