Ambush Near Tanuševci
The Ambush near Tanuševci was an attack by Albanian rebels of the NLA, near the village of Tanuševci on March 4, 2001 during the Insurgency in Macedonia. Ambush Background On February 26 2001 fighting broke out in the village. By the 2nd of March 2001, 100 Albanian rebels had occupied Tanuševci and the forest around it. Fighting Albanian insurgents planted landmines on a road leading to Tanuševci. At 7:30 AM an ARM vehicle hit the landmines, killing two soldiers. At 8 AM the rebels opened fire at army forces, killing one soldier. Aftermath The European Union condemned the attack. The Lisec Ambush was an attack carried out by the NLA on a Macedonian police patrol on May 22, 2001, it was one of the most intense infantry engagement in the war. Operation Crescent Wind was the codename for the American and British air campaign over Afghanistan in October and November 2001. The bombing campaign was aided by British special forces troops on the ground to provide targeting information for airstrikes. The campaign significantly weakened the Taliban, paving the way for offensives by the Northern Alliance to take place in November which quickly overran Taliban-controlled regions of Afghanistan. Battle Of Vedeno
The Battle of Vedeno was fought between Russian federal forces and Chechen rebels for control of the mountainous Vedensky District in southeastern Chechnya and its capital Vedeno. Battle The battle started on 13 August 2001, when Chechen rebels seized the village of Benoi-Yurt, attacked the local military commandant's office, and placed checkpoints on a strategic road that leads further south to the town of Vedeno.
