This is a list of notable barbecue restaurants. Barbecue is a method and apparatus for char grilling food in the hot smoke of a wood fire, usually charcoal fueled. In the United States, to grill is to cook in this manner quickly, while barbecue is typically a much slower method utilizing less heat than grilling, attended to over an extended period of several hours. The term as a noun can refer to the meat, the cooking apparatus itself (the "barbecue grill" or simply "barbecue") or to the party that includes such food or such preparation methods. The term as an adjective can refer to foods cooked by this method. The term is also used as a verb for the act of cooking food in this manner. Billy Sims BBQ is an American restaurant chain founded by former professional football player, Billy Sims and his business partner, Jeff Jackson. In 2004, Sims and Jackson opened the first Billy Sims BBQ location in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The brand is supported by 54 locations operating across nine states. Fiorella's Jack Stack Barbecue is a small chain of barbecue restaurants, catering, private dining facilities, and nationwide shipper of barbecue located in the metropolitan area of Kansas City, Missouri. Early history Fiorella's Jack Stack Barbecue was originally a part of the Fiorella family-owned chain of Smoke Stack Barbecue restaurants, with the original restaurant located in south Kansas City, Missouri on Prospect Avenue. Famous Dave's
Famous Dave's of America is a chain of barbecue restaurants primarily located in the Midwestern United States, serving pork ribs, chicken, beef brisket, and several flavors of barbecue sauce. Dave Anderson, an Ojibwe-Choctaw who served as the head of the federal Bureau of Indian Affairs from 2004 to 2005, started the first Famous Dave's restaurant near Hayward, Wisconsin in 1994. Dreamland Bar-B-Que is a barbecue restaurant chain based in Alabama. It was founded by "Big Daddy" John Bishop in the Jerusalem Heights neighborhood of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, in 1958, but has since franchised, opening Alabama restaurants in Birmingham, Montgomery, Huntsville, Mobile, and Northport. It has also opened two restaurants in the Atlanta, Georgia metropolitan area, in Roswell and Duluth. Dixie's BBQ
Dixie's BBQ was a barbecue restaurant in Bellevue, Washington. It was known for its hot sauce, "The Man," and bumper stickers throughout the area which read, "Have you met The Man?" It was opened in 1994 by Dixie and Gene Porter, who had lived in the Seattle area for 30 years, working as a nurse and a mechanic, respectively. Gene Porter's death Gene Porter died of cancer on February 28, 2010. His wife Dixie and daughter LJ continued to operate Dixie's. until LJ died on February 2, 2011. Cooper's is best known for its two-inch-thick pork chop known as the "Big Chop", and for being President George W. Bush's favorite barbecue restaurant. Chooks Fresh & Tasty was a Western Australian fast food chain that specialized in barbecued and fried chicken. History Chooks was originally a well known regional fast food brand named River Rooster. Operations began in Busselton and Margaret River in 1991. River Rooster stores were generally in areas that lacked popular fast food chains – namely Chicken Treat, Red Rooster or KFC.
