The Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Peru to Hungary is the Ambassador, official representative of the Republic of Peru to Hungary. The ambassador to Hungary is also accredited to Serbia (since 2018) and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Both countries Hungary–Peru relations, established relations in the 19th century. In 1851, Austria–Hungary recognized the independence of Peru, and both countries subsequently established relations. As a result of World War I, Peru severed relations with both German Empire, Germany and Austria–Hungary in 1917, reestablishing them in 1920. After the 1968 Peruvian coup d'état and the establishment of Juan Velasco Alvarado's Revolutionary Government of the Armed Forces of Peru, Revolutionary Government, relations were renewed in April 1969 with the Hungarian People's Republic as the new Peruvian government pursued closer relations with the Soviet bloc. Four variants are used: the Coat of arms ''per se'' ('); the National Coat of arms, or National Shield ('); the Great Seal of the State ('); and the Naval Coat of arms ('). Official description Peruvian law describes the coat of arms as follows: :''"The arms of the Peruvian Nation shall consist of a shield divided into three fields: one azure (heraldry), celestial blue to the right, with a vicuna looking inside; other argent, white to the left, with a Cinchona officinalis placed within, and another, gules, red, in the bottom and smaller, with a cornucopia pouring coins, signifying with these symbols the treasures of Peru in the three realms of nature.
