Ashfaq Ahmed Khan ( ur, ; 22 August 1925 – 7 September 2004) was a writer, playwright and broadcaster from Pakistan. His works in Urdu included novels, short stories and plays for television and radio of Pakistan. Syed Waheed Ashraf
Syed Waheed Ashraf is an Indian Sufi scholar and poet in Persian and Urdu. Ashraf received his B.A., M.A. and PhD (1965) degrees from Aligarh Muslim University. The title of his doctoral dissertation was ''A Critical Edition of Lataife Ashrafi''. After serving at a number of Indian universities (Punjabi University at Patiala, M.S. University of Baroda and the University of Madras), Ashraf retired as head of the department of Arabic, Persian and Urdu at the University of Madras in 1993. Fluent in seven languages (Pahlavi, Persian, Arabic, Urdu, English, Hindi and Gujarati), he writes in Urdu, Persian and English, has written, edited or compiled over 35 books. Ashraf has focused on upholding and propagating the principles and practices of Sufism. Syed Amin Ashraf
Syed Amin Ashraf (10 July 1930 7 February 2013) was an Urdu Ghazal poet and critic. He earned his PhD in English Literature from Aligarh Muslim University on the topic ''Major Themes and Imagery in Sarogini Naidu's Poetry'', and later served the same department. He produced three poetic collections and a critical compendium of essays in the form of a book. Several academic awards were conferred on his poetic anthologies, and numerous critical articles and books praised his poetic artistry. Biography Syed Amin Ashraf was born on 10 July 1930 in Kichhauchha Sharif, the eldest child and son of his parents. His father was Syed Habeeb Ashraf. He worked as a librarian in the village's library. He received his primary education at a local madrasa. He received a BA, an MA and a PhD degree from the Aligarh Muslim University. Satyapal Anand
Satyapal Anand ( hi, सत्य पाल आनंद , ur, ; born April 24, 1931) is an Indian-American poet, critic and writer. He has written several fictional and poetry books in four languages: English, Urdu, Hindi and Punjabi. He has also received awards for his literary work. Personal life Anand was born in Kot Sarang, Chakwal district, now in Pakistan. He finished his primary education there and attended secondary school in Rawalpindi in 1947. After the partition of India, his family moved to Ludhiana in East Punjab, where he received his college education, earning a Masters in English from the Punjab University in Chandigarh with academic distinction. Rais Amrohvi
Rais Amrohvi ( ur, ), whose real name was Syed Muhammad Mehdi (1914-1988) was a Pakistani scholar, Urdu poet, paranormal investigator, and psychoanalyst and elder brother of Jaun Elia. He was known for his style of qatanigari (quatrain writing). He wrote quatrains for Pakistani newspaper Jang for several decade. He promoted the Urdu language and supported the Urdu-speaking people of Pakistan. His family is regarded as family of poets. Rasheed Amjad (Urdu: ڈاکٹر رشید امجد) was an Urdu fiction writer, critic and scholar. He was born on 5 March 1940 in Srinagar, Indian occupied Kashmir but migrated to Pakistan after independence and later on lived in Rawalpindi, Pakistan. Majeed Amjad
Majeed Amjad ( Punjabi, ur, ) (29 June 1914 – 11 May 1974) was an Urdu poet from Pakistan. One newspaper described him as a "philosophical poet of depth and sensitivity". His ghazals have also been sung by various Pakistani singers. Personal life Background Amjad was born on 29 June 1914 in Jhang, a small town in the Pakistani province of Punjab. He was taught by his maternal grandfather. Then for a few years he studied Arabic and Persian under the supervision of his maternal grandfather Noor Muhammad at a local mosque before enrolling in first grade in a government school. He obtained his Matriculation certificate in the first division from Islamia High School, Jhang.
