List Of UK Top-ten Albums In 2014
The UK Albums Chart is one of many music charts compiled by the Official Charts Company that calculates the best-selling albums of the week in the United Kingdom. Since 2004 the chart has been based on the sales of both physical albums and digital downloads. This list shows albums that peaked in the top 10 of the UK Albums Chart during 2014, as well as albums which peaked in 2013 and 2015 but were in the top 10 in 2014. The entry date is when the album appeared in the top 10 for the first time (week ending, as published by the Official Charts Company, which is six days after the chart is announced). One-hundred and fifty-eight albums were in the top ten this year. Two albums from 2012 and sixteen albums from 2013 remained in the top 10 for several weeks at the beginning of the year, while ''Hozier'' by Hozier was released in 2014 but did not reach its peak until 2015. Warpaint is an American indie rock band from Los Angeles, California, formed in 2004. The band consists of Emily Kokal (vocals, guitar), Theresa Wayman (vocals, guitar), Jenny Lee Lindberg (bass, vocals), and Stella Mozgawa (drums). ''In the Arms of an Angel'' is the debut studio album by Scottish singer Nicholas McDonald, who finished as the runner-up on the tenth series of '' The X Factor'' in 2013. It was released through RCA Records on 17 March 2014. The album has peaked to number 6 on the UK Albums Chart. Consisting mostly of covers, the album was recorded over a seven-day period in January 2014. The album's title comes from the line "''you're in the arms of the angel''", from the Sarah McLachlan song "Angel", which is one of the songs McDonald covered for the album. Nicholas "Nicky" McDonald (born 23 November 1996) is a Scottish singer. He was the runner-up of the tenth series of ''The X Factor'' in 2013. After the show, he signed with RCA Records and released his debut album '' In the Arms of an Angel'' in March 2014, peaking at number 6 on the UK Albums Chart. Early life McDonald was born in Wishaw, South Lanarkshire to parents Eileen and Derrick McDonald. As of 2021, the band consists of Joseph Mount (vocals, keyboards and guitar), Oscar Cash (keyboards, backing vocals, guitar and saxophone), Anna Prior (drums and vocals), Olugbenga Adelekan (bass guitar and vocals) and Michael Lovett (keyboards and guitars). Temples are an English rock band, formed in Kettering, England in 2012 by singer and guitarist James Bagshaw and bassist Tom Walmsley. The band's lineup was later completed with the addition of keyboardist and rhythm guitarist Adam Smith and drummer Rens Ottink. Within Temptation is a Dutch symphonic metal band founded in April 1996 by vocalist Sharon den Adel and guitarist Robert Westerholt. They have been classified by critics as gothic metal and symphonic metal, although each album contains other influences outside these genres.
