List Of Russian Generals Killed During The Russian Invasion Of Ukraine
A number of Russian general officers have been killed during the Russian invasion of Ukraine. As of 28 November 2023, Ukrainian sources claimed that 16 Russian generals and 1 admiral had been killed during the invasion, while Russian sources have confirmed 7 deaths. Although seven of the Ukrainian claims were rebutted, the loss of even two general officers is rare. The scale of these losses is unprecedented since the Second Chechen War, in which Russia lost ten generals. This has been attributed to Russian senior commanders going to the field to address "difficulties in command and control" and "faltering Russian performance on the front line", insecure communication by Russian forces, and United States military intelligence that allowed the Ukrainians to target Russian officers. Vladimir Frolov (general)
Vladimir Petrovich Frolov (russian: Владимир Петрович Фролов; 1967 – 10 March 2022) was a Russian major general who died during the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine. Biography Vladimir Frolov was born into the family of a World War II veteran. He was promoted to the rank of major general by Presidential Decree No. 595 of Vladimir Putin on 12 December 2019. The 8th Guards Combined Arms Army, whose deputy commander was Frolov, was actively engaged in the siege of Mariupol. According to Tsargrad TV, he died no earlier than 11 April 2022. His death was announced by Russian officials on 16 April 2022. The same day, his burial was held with military honours at Saint Petersburg's Serafimovskoe Cemetery after a funeral service in Novocherkassk's Ascension Cathedral. Hostomel ( uk, Гостомель, ) is a city in Bucha Raion, Kyiv Oblast, northwest of the capital city of Kyiv. It hosts the administration of Hostomel settlement hromada, one of the hromadas of Ukraine. The 41st Combined Arms Army (russian: 41-я общевойсковая армия) is a field army of the Russian Ground Forces, currently part of the Central Military District.
