Romania
Romania ( ; ro, România ) is a country located at the crossroads of Central, Eastern, and Southeastern Europe. It borders Bulgaria to the south, Ukraine to the north, Hungary to the west, Serbia to the southwest, Moldova to the east, and the Black Sea to the southeast. Mircea Baniciu
Mircea Baniciu (; born 31 July 1949) is a Romanian musician, singer, and songwriter. Originally known as the lead singer of the Romanian rock group Transsylvania Phoenix, Baniciu quit the group when they illegally fled Romania for West Germany in 1977, continuing his career as a successful solo singer throughout the 1980s before forming a folk supergroup in 1992 with fellow musicians Mircea Vintilă, Vlady Cnejevici, and Florian Pittiș, with whom he had successfully toured Romania during the 1990s. Following the Romanian Revolution, Baniciu re-joined Transsylvania Phoenix as their lead singer, but, due to frequent disagreements with band leader Nicu Covaci, has performed and appeared on the group's albums irregularly, before finally quitting Phoenix permanently in 2007. In 2014, with fellow Phoenix bandmates Josef Kappl and Ovidiu Lipan "Țăndărică", Baniciu formed Pasărea Rock (i.e. "The Rock Bird"), a folk rock supergroup. Discography Solo discography: * Mircea ... In 2008 Bădescu joined the list of council candidates supporting Gianni Alemanno for Mayor of Rome The mayor of Rome ( it, sindaco di Roma) is an elected politician who, along with the Rome City Council ( it, Assemblea Capitolina) of 48 members, is accountable for the strategic government of Rome. Doina Badea (6 January 1940, Craiova - 4 March 1977, Bucharest) was a Romanian singer of popular music. In 1960 she made her debut at the musical theatre in Deva where she was noted for her extraordinary voice. Agatha Bârsescu
Agatha Bârsescu, also known by the name Agathe Barcesque (1857 – 1939), was a Romanian theatre actress, opera singer and teacher, known for her interpretations of Greek tragedies. Early life Agatha Bârsescu was born in Bucharest, capital of Romania on 9 September 1857. She was born into a military family, with her father being a colonel who was on good terms with the royal family, and her uncle being the minister of war. Her brother would become a general and her sister married a colonel. She spent part of her childhood in Bârsești where her father was stationed. At the age of 8, she was sent by her family, together with her cousin, to a boarding school in Sibiu, some 275 km north-west of Bucharest, where she learned German. Later, she went to the ''Ursulinenkloster'', a school run by nuns in Vienna, for a time wanting to be a nun herself. Returning home, she enrolled in the Bucharest Conservatory. Andreea Bălan
Andreea Bălan (; born 23 June 1984) is a Romanian pop singer. Bălan made her singing debut on the children's television show, ''Ba da, ba nu,'' in 1994. Two years later, she released her debut solo album, ''Amețiți de fum''. She enjoyed commercial success as a member of dance duo Andrè, which released six albums between 1998 and 2001. In 2002, the group was awarded four platinum and one gold record for selling 1.5 million album copies. Andrè was influential in bringing platform heels, box braids, mini skirts and push-up bras into fashion. After the breakup of Andrè, Bălan released another solo album, ''Te joci cu mine'', in 2002.
