Oregon
Oregon () is a U.S. state, state in the Pacific Northwest region of the Western United States. The Columbia River delineates much of Oregon's northern boundary with Washington (state), Washington, while the Snake River delineates much of its eastern boundary with Idaho. The 42nd parallel north, 42° north parallel delineates the southern boundary with California and Nevada. Oregon has been home to many Indigenous peoples of the Americas, indigenous nations for thousands of years. The first European traders, explorers, and settlers began exploring what is now Oregon's Pacific coast in the early-mid 16th century. As early as 1564, the Spanish expeditions to the Pacific Northwest, Spanish began sending vessels northeast from the Philippines, riding the Kuroshio Current in a sweeping circular route across the northern part of the Pacific. All Girl Summer Fun Band
All Girl Summer Fun Band is an American, Portland based twee-pop band, initially composed of Kim Baxter, Kathy Foster, Jen Sbragia, and Ari Douangpanya. Biography Baxter met Sbragia after a Softies show, when Baxter gave Sbragia a tape of her music. That summer, Baxter asked each of the girls if they wanted to start an "all girl summer fun band." Although the other three hadn't met before, they all agreed, and the band was formed. After releasing an EP and several singles, they joined K Records. K released two albums for the band, an eponymous debut and the follow-up ''2'', before Douangpanya left the band in 2005 to raise her son. The remaining members continued as a three-piece. On September 23, 2008, the band released their third full-length album. The members of AGSFB have played in various other bands, most notably Foster in The Thermals and Sbragia in The Softies, amongst others. Gil Assayas
Gil Assayas (also known as GLASYS) is an Israeli composer, keyboardist, producer, and vocalist. Previously, he was the lead vocalist and keyboardist of the band missFlag. He currently resides in Portland, Oregon. Assayas released the first GLASYS EP, ''The Pressure,'' in 2016. In 2018, he released a cover of the Dark World theme from ''The Legend of Zelda''. In 2019, he funded the production of a full-length GLASYS album using Kickstarter, to be delivered mid-year. Assayas has also released numerous videos through his GLASYS YouTube channel, often focusing on improvisations or new equipment he is trying out. In 2018, Assayas toured as the keyboardist of Todd Rundgren's band Utopia after the originally-announced keyboardist, Ralph Schuckett, bowed out. Archers Rise
Archers Rise is an American Christian rock band from Corvallis, Oregon. The band was formed in 2009 as ''Becoming an Archer'' by lead singer Tom Cox, a former guitarist of Falling Up, and guitarist Luke Buchanan. Archers Rise self-released a single in 2010, and released their self-titled debut EP in 2012. In 2013 the band successfully raised funds via a KickStarter campaign to record another album, ''Jupiter Bound,'' which was released in 2014. History Archers Rise, initially known as "Becoming an Archer", originally began as a side-project started by Tom Cox, following his departure as one of Falling Up's guitarists in 2005. Geno Arce
Geno Arce (born 1964 in Portland, Oregon), started playing bass in the clubs at age 16 opening for bands like Black 'n Blue and Fire Eye. Graduating from high school in 1982, he joined the navy and did his stint for his country. After receiving an honorable discharge, he returned to Portland for a short while and then relocated to Phoenix Arizona. While in Phoenix Geno performed on the local scene and in Los Angeles with the bands "Syngin, SX, and Box of Cherries, which later became "The Einsteins." In 1998 Geno joined forces with Ron Keel to form the "Roadhouse Rattlers" and began his journey into Southern Rock and Country Music. In 1999 Ron Keel had to take a trip to Europe and Geno Joined Phoenix Arizona’s "Harry and the Gila Monsters" furthering a career in country music that would allow him to share the stage with acts such as Brooks and Dunn, Reba McEntire, Montgomery Gentry, Neal McCoy, and many others. Kristin Andreassen
Kristin Andreassen is an American singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, dancer, old time musician and educator. Currently based in Nashville, Tennessee, she started her music career as a professional clogger with Footworks Percussive Dance Ensemble and in the early 2000s joined the folk bands Uncle Earl and Sometymes Why as a vocalist, dancer, songwriter, guitarist. She is known for using body percussion and dance in live performances. In 2007 she released her first solo album, ''Kiss Me Hello'', which was produced by Mark Schatz (Nickel Creek). The opening track "Crayola Doesn't Make a Color for Your Eyes" won the John Lennon Songwriting Contest in the Children's Category, also becoming a hit on children's radio despite the fact that the overall album was intended for adult listeners. Anatomy Of A Ghost
Anatomy of a Ghost was an American emo band from Portland, Oregon, some of whose members originally hailed from Alaska. History Anatomy of a Ghost formed early in 2002 and gained popularity through live performances and through internet promotional channels. In 2003 they toured the United States with Saosin and Boys Night Out. Anatomy of a Ghostat Allmusic.com Their debut (and only) record, ''Evanesce'', was released in October 2003 on Fearless Records. American Music Program
The American Music Program (née Pacific Crest Sinfonietta, Cultural Recreation Band) is a youth jazz band in Portland, Oregon founded by jazz trumpeter, composer, and educator Thara Memory. This non-profit youth music program mentors primary school students from 7th-12th grade. On May 9, 2015, the group won Jazz at Lincoln Center's Essentially Ellington Competition, playing Ellington's ''Tattooed Bride'' from memory. History Under the direction of Thara Memory, Greg McKelvey, and Ronnye Harrison the Cultural Recreation Band was founded in 1983. This multicultural performing orchestra served inner city youth primarily in Portland, Oregon's Albina District. Students in the program competed in state and regional jazz band competitions. Signe Toly Anderson
Signe Toly Anderson ( ; born Signe Toly; September 15, 1941 – January 28, 2016) was an American singer who was one of the founding members of the American rock band Jefferson Airplane. Early life Anderson was born Signe Toly in Seattle, Washington on September 15, 1941. At age three, her parents divorced, and she moved with her mother to Portland, Oregon, where she was raised. Anderson sang in a band with three male musicians whom she had known in high school under the name Three Guys and a Gal. The group performed at a campaign event for John F. Kennedy in November 1959. Jefferson Airplane Anderson was a locally known and well-respected jazz and folk singer in San Francisco, where Marty Balin heard her perform and invited her to join his band, soon named Jefferson Airplane.
