Debbie Watson (water Polo)
Deborah Kathleen Watson (born 28 September 1965 in Sydney) is an Australian former water polo player. She is one of the greatest female water polo players to ever play the game. She won gold medals at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney and the 1986 World Aquatics Championships in Madrid. Early life Watson was born in Sydney. She played netball before water polo. After doctors advised her to give up land sports for injuries, she joined her school's water polo team. Career In 1983, Debbie Watson was selected to represent Australia for her great talent in water polo. Her first international appearance was as a 17-year-old at the 1983 FINA Women's Water Polo World Cup in Sainte-Foy, Quebec, Canada, where the Australian team finished in third place. Makenzie Fischer
Makenzie Fischer (born March 29, 1997) is an American water polo player. She was part of the gold medal-winning American team at the Water polo at the 2015 World Aquatics Championships – Women's tournament, 2015 World Aquatics Championships, where she played in the centre back position. She was also part of the gold medal-winning American team at the 2016 Summer Olympics. Personal life Fischer's younger sister, Aria Fischer, is also on the American Women's National Team for Water Polo. Their father, Erich Fischer, competed on the American men's national team for water polo. Her uncle, Martin Fischer, was a goalkeeper for Stanford's men's water polo team. and would later coach Stanford's women's team to their first ever national title. Maggie Steffens
Margaret Ann Steffens (born June 4, 1993) is an American water polo player. She won the gold medal with the United States at the 2012, 2016 and 2020 Summer Olympics. At the 2020 Summer Olympics, Steffens set a new Olympic record for the most number of goals scored by an individual player in women's water polo at the Olympic Games. Early career Steffens played water polo at Monte Vista High School and helped the team win their league championship in 2007, 2008, and 2009. She also played for Diablo Water Polo in Alamo, California. College career Steffens attended Stanford University, playing on the women's water polo team from 2013 to 2017. Steffens lead the team to NCAA championships in 2014, 2015, and 2017, and to second-place finishes in 2013 and 2016. Elena Gigli
Elena Gigli (born 9 July 1985 in Empoli) is a female water polo goalkeeper from Italy, who won the gold medal with the Women's National Team at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece. She was the top goalkeeper at the 2012 Olympics, with 56 saves. She also won silver medal in European championship in Belgrado in 2006. Her club team is Fiorentina Waterpolo Giotti (Italy) and she won the Len Champions Cup and Italian league in 2006/2007. Maddie Musselman
Madeline Musselman (born June 16, 1998) is an American water polo player. Maddie was named Woman's water polo MVP after her USA Team won gold in Tokyo at the 2020ne Summer Olympics. She was one of the highest leading scorers with 18 goals. It is the fourth time in her career that she has been named the MVP of a major international tournament as she was named the MVP of the FINA World League Super Final in 2019 and again in 2021. She was also named the MVP of the FINA World Championships in 2017 where Team USA won gold; scored 16 goals in six games, including hat trick in 13–6 final-round win over Spain. Danielle Woodhouse (born 23 January 1969 in Perth) is an Australian water polo player from the gold medal squad of the 2000 Summer Olympics. She is the sister of Bridgette Ireland (Gusterson) who was captain of the 2000 Olympic Team. Along with Liz Weekes, Woodhouse was the goal keeper for the Australian team in 2000. Brenda Villa (born April 18, 1980) is an accomplished American water polo player. She is the most decorated athlete in the world of women’s water polo. Villa was named Female Water Polo Player of the Decade for 2000-2009 by the FINA Aquatics World Magazine. She is one of four female players who competed in water polo at four Olympics; and one of two female athletes who won four Olympic medals in water polo.
