List Of NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Programs
This is a list of men's college soccer programs in the United States, that play in NCAA Division I. As of the most recently completed 2021 NCAA Division I men's soccer season, 208 schools in the United States sponsored Division I varsity men's soccer; 203 of these schools were full Division I members, four ellarmine, Merrimack, UC San Diego, and Utah Tech (then known as Dixie State)were in transition from NCAA Division II to Division I, and one (St. Thomas) is transitioning from Division III. Several schools (among them UC San Diego) chose not to play men's soccer in that season due to COVID-19 concerns. This list reflects each team's conference affiliation as of the current 2022 season. Horizon League
The Horizon League is an 11-school collegiate athletic conference in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I, whose members are located in and near the Great Lakes region. The Horizon League founded in 1979 as the Midwestern City Conference. The conference changed its name to Midwestern Collegiate Conference in 1985 and then the Horizon League in 2001. The conference started with a membership of six teams and has fluctuated in size with 24 different schools as members at different times. The League currently has 11 members. Its most recent membership changes occurred on July 1, 2022 with the departure of the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) to the Missouri Valley Conference. Southern Conference
The Southern Conference (SoCon) is a collegiate athletic conference affiliated with the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I. Belmont Bruins Men's Soccer
The Belmont Bruins men's soccer team represents Belmont University in NCAA Division I soccer. The Bruins currently play in the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC). From 2018 to 2021 the Bruins played in the Southern Conference (SoCon), and prior to that played in the Horizon League. The Bryant Bulldogs are the athletic teams representing Bryant University in Smithfield, Rhode Island. As of July 1, 2022, the Bulldogs compete in most National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I sports as members of the America East Conference (AmEast). The move to the AmEast followed a 14-year tenure in the Northeast Conference (NEC), which it joined in 2008 when it began a transition from NCAA Division II to Division I. NCAA Division I Independent Schools
NCAA Division I independent schools are four-year institutions that compete in college athletics at the NCAA Division I level, but do not belong to an established athletic conference for a particular sport. These schools may however still compete as members of an athletic conference in other sports. A school may also be fully independent, and not belong to any athletic conference for any sport at all. The reason for independent status varies among institutions, but it is frequently because the school's primary athletic conference does not sponsor a particular sport. Hartford Hawks Men's Soccer
The Hartford Hawks are the NCAA Division I athletic teams of the University of Hartford, located in West Hartford, Connecticut. Hartford sponsors teams in eight men's and nine women's NCAA sanctioned sports. The men's and women's tennis teams were discontinued at the end of the 2016 season, and women's lacrosse was added. Overview On May 6, 2021, the University of Hartford Board of Regents voted to drop its athletic department to Division III. This plan will start with the university's formal application to the NCAA for reclassification in January 2022. Starting in 2022–23, Hartford would no longer award athletic scholarships to incoming students, and begin playing as a Division I independent.
