''Continuo'' is an abstract strategy game by Maureen Hiron which was first published in 1982 and now distributed in board game form by David Westnedge Ltd. In the U.K and U.S. Games Systems in the U.S. It is played by arranging patterns printed on a deck of 42 cards, each card being printed with a grid of 16 colored squares. The goal is to place cards so that the tiles match as many chains of color as possible. ''Continuo'' sold over 200,000 units in the United Kingdom alone within a few months of being launched. ''Continuo'' won a 1995 Mensa Select games award. The tag line on the box is "The one rule game for all the family". ''Apples to Apples'' is a party game originally published by Out of the Box Publishing Inc., and now by Mattel. Players start with a hand of seven "red apple" cards, which feature nouns. A player is selected to be the first judge, and that judge plays a "green apple" card, which features an adjective. The round is won by playing the "red apple" card that the judge determines to be the best match for the "green apple" card. The role of the judge rotates, and the number of rounds is determined by the number of players. The game is designed for four to ten players and played for 30–75 minutes. ''Apples to Apples'' was chosen by Mensa International in 1999 as a "Mensa Select" prizewinner, an award given to five games each year. Description ''Wadjet'' is a board game for 2–4 players based on the discovery of the Tomb of Tutankhamun by Howard Carter and Lord Carnarvon in 1923. The board game is set some months after the discovery, when Carter had removed some of the treasures from the tomb. Someone has stolen twenty-five of them from the base camp, and the players take on the roles of archaeologists who are trying to recover the treasures. Rules of the game Quoridor is played on a game board of 81 square spaces (9x9). Each player is represented by a pawn which begins at the center space of one edge of the board (in a two-player game, the pawns begin opposite each other). ''Pirateer'' is a spatial board game for two to four players created by Scott Peterson in 1978. The game was originally named ''Privateer'', before being published by the Mendocino Game Company in 1995. The name of the game is apparently a combination of ''privateer'' and ''pirate''. Gameplay The objective of the game is for a player to either: return the centrally located treasure to their home port, or to capture all of their opponents' three ships, using movement restricted by dice rolls (two six-sided dice), obstacles, trade winds, and currents. The theme of the game is for each player to assume the role of a different band of three ships, with their own port and flag.
