Arroios (Lisbon Metro)
Arroios is a station on the Green Line of the Lisbon Metro. The station is located in the Almirante Reis Avenue, in Arroios neighbourhood. History The station, which opened on 18 June 1972, was designed by the architect Denis Gomes with art installations by the painter Maria Keil. On 19 July 2017, the station was closed for extensive renovations; the station's platforms only had room for 4 cars, requiring use of selective door operation. The platforms were expanded from 75 to 105 metres, enabling all stations on the Green Line to be able to support six-car trains. The station reopened on 14 September 2021. Entre Campos station is part of the Yellow Line of the Lisbon Metro. History It is one of the 11 stations that belong to the original Lisbon Metro network and opened on December 29, 1959. This station is located on Avenida da República. Its name reflects its location, between Campo Grande and Campo Pequeno. The architectural design of the original station is by Falcão e Cunha. On July 15, 1973, the station was extended, based on the architectural design of Dinies Gomes. On December 11, 1993, the station was refurbished, based on the architectural design of Sanchez Jorge. Encarnação is a station on the Red Line of the Lisbon Metro. The station is located under Rua General Silva Freire in the parish of Encarnação, a densely populated residential neighbourhood of northern Lisbon. Colégio Militar station is part of the Blue Line of the Lisbon Metro and is located in Lisbon. History The station opened on 14 October 1988, in conjunction with the Alto dos Moinhos and Laranjeiras stations, and it is located on Avenida do Colégio Militar, close to the military school from which it takes its name and Estádio da Luz, home of SL Benfica. Built over it is an important bus terminal and the shopping mall Colombo Centre. The architectural design of the station is by António J. Mendes. Throughout 2019, lifts were expected to be added to this station, making the station accessible for persons with disabilities. Carnide station is part of the Blue Line of the Lisbon Metro and is located near the Bairro da Horta Nova neighbourhood of Lisbon. Campo Pequeno station is part of the Yellow Line of the Lisbon Metro. History It is one of the 11 stations that belong to the original Lisbon Metro network, opened on December 29, 1959. This station is located on Avenida da República and takes its name from the nearby Campo Pequeno square and bullring. The architectural design of the original station is by Falcão e Cunha. On March 26, 1979, the station was extended, based on the architectural design of Benoliel de Carvalho. Campo Grande is an elevated interchange station on the Yellow and Green Lines of the Lisbon Metro. It has a large bus terminal at ground level and is located on Rua Cipriano Dourado just north of Avenida General Norton de Matos in the Lisbon parish of Alvalade, in the neighbourhood of Campo Grande. Location The station adjoins Estádio José Alvalade home of Sporting Clube de Portugal. Cais do Sodré is a station on the Green Line of the Lisbon Metro. It is located in the Praça Duque da Terceira, connecting to the Cais do Sodré railway station and with a boat station (allowing for quick travel between Lisbon and Cacilhas, Seixal and Montijo. History This metro station was built by Pedro Botelho and Nuno Teotónio Pereira and the art work was done by António Dacosta, which left some of his drawings to be used in the station after his death, with some help from the painter Pedro Morais.
