Kontinental Hockey League
The Kontinental Hockey League (KHL; russian: Континентальная хоккейная лига (КХЛ), Kontinental'naya khokkeynaya liga) is an international professional ice hockey league founded in 2008. It comprises member clubs based in Russia (19), Belarus (1), Kazakhstan (1) and China (1) for a total of 22 clubs. It was considered in 2015 to be the premier professional ice hockey league in Europe and Asia, and the second-strongest in the world behind North America's National Hockey League. The KHL had in 2017 the highest total attendance in Europe with 5.32 million spectators in the regular season and third-highest average attendance in Europe with 6,121 spectators per game in the regular season. Traktor Chelyabinsk
Traktor Chelyabinsk, also known as Traktor (russian: Трактор), is a professional ice hockey team based in Chelyabinsk, Russia. They are members of the Kharlamov Division of the Eastern Conference of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). From 1967 to 2009 the team played their home games at the Yunost Sport Palace. In 2009 the team moved to the arena now called Traktor Ice Arena, Traktor Ice Arena named after Valery Belousov, their present home arena in Chelyabinsk. History Soviet Championship (1948–1992) Founded in 1947 as a team of the Chelyabinsk Tractor Plant, Traktor have played for the Soviet and Russian championships since 1948. In 1948-1953 the team was called Dzerzhinets and Avangard in 1954 - 1958. The current name was adopted starting with the 1958–59 Soviet League season, 1958–59 season. Rodrigo Laviņš
Rodrigo Laviņš (born August 3, 1974) is a Latvian former professional ice hockey defenceman. Playing career Laviņš began his career with his hometown team Pārdaugava Rīga. He then moved to North America in 1994, starting with the East Coast Hockey League where he played for the Raleigh IceCaps and the Tallahassee Tiger Sharks. He also had a spell in the Colonial Hockey League with the Muskegon Fury. In 1997, he moved to the International Hockey League with the Las Vegas Thunder. He then moved to the Tacoma Sabercats of the West Coast Hockey League the same season. Laviņš returned to Europe in 1998, splitting the year in Finland's SM-liiga with Jokerit and Sweden's Elitserien with AIK. He returned to Finland the next season, splitting the year with HPK and Ilves before moving to the Deutsche Eishockey Liga in Germany, suiting up for the Augsburger Panther. Atlant Mytishchi
Hockey Club Atlant Moscow Oblast (russian: ХК Атлант Московская область, en, Atlas Hockey Club Moscow Region) was a Russian professional ice hockey team based in Mytishchi, Moscow Oblast. They were members of the Bobrov Division of the Kontinental Hockey League in the 2014–15 season, but have not been active since the 2015–16 season due to financial issues. History Overview Atlant was founded in 2005 when a team (Khimik) based in Voskresensk was relocated to Mytishchi. The old team traced its history back to 1953. Immediate success allowed Khimik to play in the Championship of the Soviet Union. Leading the team was playing-coach Nikolay Epshtein. In three years, Khimik was graduated to the top league of the Soviet Union.
