The Los Angeles Galaxy are an American soccer club based in the Greater Los Angeles suburb of Carson, California, which competes in Major League Soccer, the top tier soccer league in the United States and Canada. Among MLS clubs, the Galaxy are the second most decorated club. In terms of American soccer clubs of all-time, the Galaxy are the third most decorated club in American soccer history, amassing a total of 12 major trophies (be it a World, Continental, League Premiership, League Championship or National Championship). Since 2003 the team has played in The Home Depot Center, located on the campus California State University, Dominguez Hills in Carson, California. Prior to that, the club played in the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California. Western Conference (MLS)
The Western Conference is one of Major League Soccer's two conferences, along with the Eastern Conference. As of 2023, the Western Conference contains fourteen teams. The conference has produced eleven Supporters' Shield champions and seventeen MLS Cup winners in Major League Soccer's first 27 seasons. Eduardo Hurtado
Eduardo Estíguar Hurtado Roa (born 2 December 1969) is an Ecuadorian former footballer who played as a striker. He has the record of being the 3rd all-time leading scorer for the Ecuador national football team with 26 goals in 74 caps. He has played for teams in his home nation as well as Mexico, the United States, Scotland, Switzerland, Chile and Argentina. He was one of the early stars of America's Major League Soccer (MLS) scoring the second most goals in the league's opening season and helping the Los Angeles Galaxy make a run for the playoffs. He was active for nearly 20 years, retiring at age 40 in 2010. MLS Cup 1996
MLS Cup 1996 was the inaugural edition of the MLS Cup, the championship match of Major League Soccer (MLS), the top-level soccer league of the United States. Hosted at Foxboro Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, on October 20, 1996, it was contested by D.C. United and the Los Angeles Galaxy to decide the champion of the 1996 season. Both finalists finished in the top two spots of their respective conferences, with D.C. placing second in the East and Los Angeles atop the West. The two teams also had identical win–loss records in the first two rounds of the playoffs, losing the opening match of the Conference Semifinals and winning the remaining four matches of both rounds. The final match was played in heavy rain due to the proximity of Hurricane Lili, which also inundated the field.
