Kannada Cinema
Kannada cinema, also known as Sandalwood, or Chandanavana, is the segment of Indian cinema dedicated to the production of motion pictures in the Kannada language widely spoken in the state of Karnataka. The 1934 film ''Sati Sulochana'' directed by Y. V. Rao was the first talkie film in the Kannada language. It was also the first film starring Subbaiah Naidu and Tripuramba, and was the first motion picture screened in the erstwhile Mysore Kingdom. The film was produced by Chamanlal Doongaji, who in 1932 founded ''South India Movietone'' in Bangalore. Major literary works have been adapted to the Kannada screen such as B. V. Doddanna
Doddanna (born 11 November 1949) is an Indian actor in the Kannada film industry who has acted in about 800 films. He started his career as a theatre actor. During this time, he entered the Kannada film industry as a character actor. Early life Doddanna was born on 11 November 1949. The youngest son in the family, He belongs to Lingayat community. he was named after his grandfather Kadle Doddappa. He started his career as a theatre actor with Vighneshwara Kala Sangha in Bhadravathi during which time he worked in a steel factory there. He, along with his friends had formed a theater troupe called Gandharva Ranga. Later, he entered the Kannada, Telugu and Tamil film industry. Career Doddanna is a versatile actor. Kishore Sarja
Kishore Sarja (died 27 June 2009) was an Indian film director who worked in Kannada-language films. Career Kishore Sarja started his career as an assistant director before making his directorial debut with ''Alimayya'' (1993) starring his brother Arjun Sarja, which was a remake of the 1987 Tamil film ''Kalyana Kacheri'' starring Arjun. He is known for directing the film ''Thutta Mutta'' (1998) starring Ramesh Aravind, which was commercially successful and his only film that was not a remake. He also directed other films including ''Jodi'' (2001) and ''Baava Baamaida'' (2001), both starring Shiva Rajkumar. He introduced his nephew, Chiranjeevi Sarja with the film ''Vayuputra'' (2009), which was produced by Arjun Sarja. ''Veetla Visheshanga'' is a 1994 Indian Tamil-language comedy drama film, written and directed by K. Bhagyaraj. The film stars Bhagyaraj himself and Pragathi, with Janagaraj, Suresh and Tanikella Bharani in supporting roles. It was released on 14 January 1994, Pongal day. The film was remade in Hindi as ''Mr. Bechara'' (1996) and in Kannada as ''Banallu Neene Buviyallu Neene'' (2002). Rekha, also known as Akshara, is an Indian actress, who predominantly acts in Kannada films and also appears in Telugu and Tamil films. Shashi Kumar (born 2 December 1965) is an actor and politician from Karnataka. He works predominantly in Kannada films.
