Jamaicans
Jamaicans are the citizens of Jamaica and their descendants in the Jamaican diaspora. The vast majority of Jamaicans are of Sub-Saharan African descent, with minorities of Europeans, East Indians, Chinese, Middle Eastern, and others of mixed ancestry. The bulk of the Jamaican diaspora resides in other Anglophone countries, namely Canada, the United States and the United Kingdom. Jamaican populations are also prominent in other Caribbean countries, territories and Commonwealth realms, where in the Cayman Islands, Jamaican born residents make up 24.8% of the population. David Madden (born 1943) is a Jamaican trumpeter known for his solo recordings and as a member of Zap Pow, as well as playing on records of Bob Marley and many other great reggae artists. Biography David Madden has been around for many years in the Jamaican music business – composing, arranging, singing, and playing the trumpet. Errol Brown (engineer)
Errol Brown is a Jamaican audio engineer and record producer. Biography Brown is the nephew of the late Duke Reid, the pioneer of Treasure Isle recording studio. Educated at Kingston Technical High School, where he did radio and television, Brown was trained as an audio engineer at Treasure Isle studios by Byron Smith and Duke Reid. Brown recorded artists such as: Alton Ellis, Gilberto Gil, The Paragons, The Sensations, Marcia Griffiths, Judy Mowatt, Peter Tosh, U-Roy, Gregory Isaacs, Culture, Rebelution, Cultura Profética, Natty Nation and many more. Brown left Treasure Isle in 1979, where he joined Bob Marley & The Wailers at Tuff Gong Studios. Enos McLeod
Enos McLeod (born 1946) is a Jamaican reggae singer and music producer whose career dates to the mid-1960s. Biography McLeod was born in 1946 in Trenchtown, Kingston, Jamaica, and before his career in music he trained as a cabinet-maker and a boxer.Larkin, p.192 His debut release was "Mackie", which was produced by Sid Bucknor, who at the time was the resident engineer at Studio One. Edward Seaga
Edward Philip George Seaga ( or ; 28 May 1930 – 28 May 2019) was a Jamaican politician. He was the fifth Prime Minister of Jamaica, from 1980 to 1989, and the leader of the Jamaica Labour Party from 1974 to 2005.Profile: Edward Seaga , ; retrieved 8 April 2012. Duke Reid
Arthur "Duke" Reid CD (21 July 1915 – 1 January 1975) was a Jamaican record producer, DJ and label owner. He ran one of the most popular sound systems of the 1950s called Reid's Sound System, whilst Duke himself was known as The Trojan possibly named after the British-made trucks used to transport the equipment. In the 1960s, Reid founded record label Treasure Isle, named after his liquor store, that produced ska and rocksteady music. He was still active in the early 1970s, working with toaster U-Roy. He died in early 1975 after having suffered from a severe illness for the last year. Biography Reid was born in Portland, Jamaica.
