Hindi Language
Hindi (Devanāgarī: or , ), or more precisely Modern Standard Hindi (Devanagari: ), is an Indo-Aryan language spoken chiefly in the Hindi Belt region encompassing parts of northern, central, eastern, and western India. Hindi has been described as a standardised and Sanskritised register of the Hindustani language, which itself is based primarily on the Khariboli dialect of Delhi and neighbouring areas of North India. Hindi, written in the Devanagari script, is one of the two official languages of the Government of India, along with English. It is an official language in nine states and three union territories and an additional official language in three other states. Gopal Prasad Vyas
Gopal Prasad Vyas (13 February 1915 – 28 May 2005) was an Indian poet, known for his humorous poems. His poems have been compiled into several books such as ''To Mein Kya Karoon'', ''Ras Rasamrit'', ''Maff Kijiye'' and ''Baat Baat Mein Baat''. The story of his life has been documented in a biography, ''Bahuayami Jeevan Ke Dhani Pt Gopal Prasad Vyas'', written by Santosh Matta, published by Prabhat Books in 2015. He was honoured by the Government of India in 1965, with the award of Padma Shri, the fourth highest Indian civilian award for his contributions to the field of literature. Jwalamukhi was the pen name of Veeravalli Raghavacharyulu (18 April 1938 – 14 December 2008), who was an Indian poet, novelist, writer and political activist. Javed Akhtar
Javed Akhtar (born 17 January 1945) is an Indian poet, lyricist, screenwriter and political activist. Known for his work in Hindi cinema, he has won five National Film Awards, and received the Padma Shri in 1999 and the Padma Bhushan in 2007, two of India's highest civilian honours. Akhtar came to recognition in the duo Salim–Javed, and earned his breakthrough as a screenwriter with 1973's ''Zanjeer''. He went on to write the films ''Deewar'' and ''Sholay'', both released in 1975; they earned a cult following, and had a significant impact in popular culture. He later earned praise for his work as a lyricist, winning the National Film Award for Best Lyrics five times and the Filmfare Award for Best Lyricist eight times. Jaishankar Prasad
Jaishankar Prasad (30 January 1889 15 November 1937) was a prominent figure in modern Hindi literature as well as Hindi theatre. Prasad was his pen name. He was also known as Chhayavadi poet. Poetic Prasad started writing poetry with the pen name of ‘Kaladhar’. The first collection of poem that Jai Shankar Prasad penned, named, Chitradhar, was written in Braj dialect of Hindi but his later works were written in Khadi dialect or Sanskritized Hindi. Later on Prasad promulgated ‘ Chhayavad’, a literary trend in Hindi literature. He is considered one of the Four Pillars (''Char Stambh'') of Romanticism in Hindi Literature ( Chhayavad), along with Sumitranandan Pant, Mahadevi Verma, and Suryakant Tripathi 'Nirala'. Indra Bahadur Khare
Indra Bahadur Khare (16 December 1922 – 13 April 1953) was an Indian Hindi-language poet, a participant in Kavi-Sammelan, and a professor of 20th century Hindi literature. Personal life and education Born in the City of Gadarwara, Narsinghpur district in Madhya Pradesh, Khare developed a taste for literature at a very young age. He received his primary school education at Sohagpur, Itarasi and from Katni in Madhya Pradesh. Hith Harivansh Mahaprabhu
Shri Hit Harivansh Chandra Mahaprabhu (another spelling, Hita Harivaṃśa, 1509–1552) is a Braj-language bhakti poet- sant and the founder of Radha Vallabh Sampradaya. His principal work is the hymnal ''Hita-Caurāsī''. Born in Baad Graam (modern day Bad near Mathura on 11th Day of the Hindu month of Vaishakh (Ekadashi). Chhayavad ( hi, छायावाद) (approximated in English as "Romanticism", literally "Shaded") refers to the era of Neo-romanticism in Hindi literature, particularly Hindi poetry, 1922–1938, and was marked by an increase of romantic and humanist content. ''Chhayavad'' was marked by a renewed sense of the self and personal expression, visible in the writings of the time. It is known for its leaning towards themes of love and nature, as well as an individualistic reappropriation of the Indian tradition in a new form of mysticism, expressed through a subjective voice. Harivansh Rai Bachchan
Harivansh Rai Bachchan (; 27 November 1907 19 December 2002) was an Indian poet and writer of the Nayi Kavita literary movement (romantic upsurge) of early 20th century Hindi literature. Sampooran Singh Kalra (born 18 August 1934), known professionally as Gulzar, is an Indian Urdu poet, lyricist, author, screenwriter, and film director known for his works in Hindi cinema.
