The High Commissioner to India is New Zealand's foremost diplomatic representative in the India, and in charge of New Zealand's diplomatic mission in India. As fellow members of the Commonwealth of Nations, they exchange diplomatic relations in governmental level rather than through Heads of state. Thus the countries exchange High Commissioners, rather than ambassadors. The High Commission is located in New Delhi, India's capital city. New Zealand has maintained a resident High Commissioner in India since 1970, except for a period from 1982 until 1985. Jacinda Ardern
Jacinda Kate Laurell Ardern ( ; born 26 July 1980) is a New Zealand politician who has been serving as the 40th prime minister of New Zealand and leader of the Labour Party since 2017. A member of the Labour Party, she has been the member of Parliament (MP) for Mount Albert since 2017. Born in Hamilton, Ardern grew up in Morrinsville and Murupara. She joined the Labour Party at the age of 17. After graduating from the University of Waikato in 2001, Ardern worked as a researcher in the office of Prime Minister Helen Clark. She later worked in London as an adviser in the Cabinet Office. In 2008, Ardern was elected president of the International Union of Socialist Youth. Guy Powles
Sir Guy Richardson Powles (5 April 1905 – 24 October 1994) was a New Zealand diplomat, the last Governor of Western Samoa and architect of Samoan independence, and New Zealand's first Ombudsman. Early life Powles was born in Otaki, north of Wellington, in 1905. Powles was the son of Lieutenant-Colonel C. Guy Powles, a decorated military soldier who served with distinction during World War I as brigade major of New Zealand Mounted Rifles Brigade 1914–1916 and AA & QMG ANZAC Mounted Division 1916–1918. In 1922 he wrote the third volume of the ''Official History of New Zealand's Effort in the Great War'', ''The New Zealanders in Sinai and Palestine'', and in 1928 edited ''The history of the Canterbury Mounted Rifles 1914–1919'' by officers of the regiment, and later became Chief of General Staff of the New Zealand Army.
