Ligue 1
Ligue 1, officially known as Ligue 1 Uber Eats for sponsorship reasons, is a French professional league for men's association football clubs. At the top of the French football league system, it is the country's primary football competition. Administrated by the Ligue de Football Professionnel, Ligue 1 is contested by 20 clubs and operates on a system of promotion and relegation from and to Ligue 2. Seasons run from August to May. Clubs play two matches against each of the other teams in the league – one home and one away – totalling to 38 matches over the course of the season. Most games are played on Saturdays and Sundays, with a few games played during weekday evenings. Play is regularly suspended the last weekend before Christmas for two weeks before returning in the second week of January. Madih Talal (born 17 August 1997) is a French professional footballer who plays as an attacking midfielder for Indian Super League club East Bengal. Career Talal joined the academy of Angers SCO in 2014, after playing in various youth sides in Paris. In June 2017, Talal joined Amiens SC from Angers, signing a three-year deal. He immediately joined Amiens reserve side, becoming an essential member of the side scoring 4 goals in 10 games. Talal made his professional debut with Amiens in a 6–0 Coupe de France loss to Sochaux on 7 January 2018. In August 2018, Talal joined L'Entente SSG on loan for the 2018–19 season. Released at the end of his Amiens SC contract, Talal signed for Spanish Segunda División B side Las Rozas CF in August 2020. Serge Gakpé (born 7 May 1987) is a professional footballer who plays as a right winger. Born in France, he represents Togo at international level. Club career Gakpé began his career playing for his local club UMS Pontault-Combault, whom AS Monaco share a partnership with. During his time in Pontault-Combault, he regularly attended sessions at the Clairefontaine academy. After being recommended to the Ligue 1 side by Pontault-Combault and Clairefontaine officials, he agreed to join the principality-based side in 2001.
