Leaf Beetle
The insects of the beetle family Chrysomelidae are commonly known as leaf beetles, and include over 37,000 (and probably at least 50,000) species in more than 2,500 genera, making up one of the largest and most commonly encountered of all beetle families. Numerous subfamilies are recognized, but the precise taxonomy and systematics are likely to change with ongoing research. Leaf beetles are partially recognizable by their tarsal formula, which appears to be 4-4-4, but is actually 5-5-5 as the fourth tarsal segment is very small and hidden by the third. As with many taxa, no single character defines the Chrysomelidae; instead, the family is delineated by a set of characters. Some lineages are only distinguished with difficulty from longhorn beetles (family Cerambycidae), namely by the antennae not arising from frontal tubercles. Agrianes (beetle)
The Agrianes ( Ancient Greek: Ἀγρίανες, ''Agrianes'' or Ἀγρίαι ''Agriai'') or Agrianians, were a tribe whose country was centered at Upper Strymon, in present-day central Western Bulgaria as well as southeasternmost Serbia, at the time situated north of the Dentheletae. Per Strabo the source of the river Strymon was within Agrianes' territory. In the times of Philip II of Macedon, the territory of the Agrianes was administered by Pella. They were crack javelin throwers and an elite unit of Alexander the Great's light infantry, who fought under the command of General Attalus. ''Agetinus'' is a genus of leaf beetles in the subfamily Eumolpinae. It is known from Australia. The genus was originally named ''Agetus'' by Félicien Chapuis in 1874. However, the name ''Agetus'' was preoccupied by ''Agetus'' Kröyer, 1849 (in Crustacea), so the genus was renamed to ''Agetinus'' by Édouard Lefèvre in 1885. Agetinella
''Agetinella'' is a genus of leaf beetles in the subfamily Eumolpinae. It contains only one species, ''Agetinella minuta'', which is known from Swan River in Western Australia. The genus and species were first described by the German entomologist Martin Jacoby Martin Jacoby (12 April 1842, Altona – 24 December 1907, London) was a German entomologist who specialised in Coleoptera, especially Chrysomelidae (formerly known as Phytophaga). He was also a musician who played in the orchestra of the Royal I ..., in an article posthumously published in 1908. The genus was originally assigned to the tribe Eumolpini, but later leaf beetle classifications instead place it as '' incertae sedis'' within Eumolpinae. In a 1990 PhD thesis by Chris A.M.
