English Language
English is a West Germanic language of the Indo-European language family, with its earliest forms spoken by the inhabitants of early medieval England. It is named after the Angles, one of the ancient Germanic peoples that migrated to the island of Great Britain. Existing on a dialect continuum with Scots, and then closest related to the Low Saxon and Frisian languages, English is genealogically West Germanic. However, its vocabulary is also distinctively influenced by dialects of France (about 29% of Modern English words) and Latin (also about 29%), plus some grammar and a small amount of core vocabulary influenced by Old Norse (a North Germanic language). ''6teen'' (originally titled ''The Mall'') is a Canadian animated comedy television series originally produced by Nelvana, with the final two seasons being produced by Fresh TV. It began airing on November 7, 2004 until its final episode aired on February 11, 2010 on Teletoon. In the U.S., the series was first aired on Nickelodeon on December 18, 2005, and was removed from the schedule on May 13, 2006. The show was later aired on Cartoon Network (along with ''Total Drama Island and Stoked)'' on October 23, 2008 until June 21, 2010. With the first 78 episodes 15 September 2020 and both 45-minute-long specials produced by Nelvana, ''6teen'' ended with a total of four seasons of 93 22-minute-long episodes (including two one-hour specials). ''The Adventures of Napkin Man!'' is a children's television series created by Tone Thyne and Josh Selig. It premiered in 2013 on CBC Television, as part of the ''Kids' CBC'' block. Mixing live action with animation, the series stars Yannick Bisson as Mr. Anthony, a preschool teacher who writes and illustrates stories featuring Napkin Man, a superhero figure, to teach his students how to handle difficult emotions. Adventures In Rainbow Country
''Adventures in Rainbow Country'' was a Canadian television series, which aired on CBC Television in the 1970-71 TV season. Reruns were later shown on the American children's cable channel Nickelodeon during the early 1980s. A half hour family drama, the show starred Lois Maxwell (of James Bond fame) as Nancy Williams, a widow raising her children Billy (Stephen Cottier) and Hannah (Susan Conway) in rural Northern Ontario. Setting The show was filmed in 1969 around Whitefish Falls, which is near Espanola, Ontario, Canada. Many scenes were also shot at Birch Island and on Manitoulin Island. Production and broadcasts The show was very popular in Canada and technically never cancelled or axed. No further episodes were produced after the first season. ''Adventure Inc.'' is a dramatised adventure television series produced primarily in Canada which aired from 30 September 2002 to 12 May 2003. It was a co-production of Fireworks Entertainment (Canada), Tribune Entertainment (United States), M6 (France), Amy International (UK), and Tele München (Germany).
