''Doctor Who'' ceased production in 1989. A one-off TV movie was produced in the US in 1996, before the series resumed in 2005. The original series (1963–1989), generally consists of multi-episode serials; in the early seasons, and occasionally through its run, serials tend to link together, one story leading directly into the next. The 2005 revival trades the earlier serial format for a run of self-contained episodes, interspersed with occasional multi-part stories and structured into loose story arcs. For the first two seasons of ''Doctor Who'' and most of the third (1963–1966), each episode carries its own title; the show displays no titles for overarching serials until '' The Savages'', at which point the episodic titles cease. ''Doctor Who'', also referred to as ''Doctor Who: The Television Movie'' or simply ''Doctor Who: The Movie'' to distinguish it from the television series of the same title, is a 1996 television film continuing the British science fiction television series '' Doctor Who''. It was developed as a co-production between Universal Studios and BBC Worldwide. It premiered on 12 May 1996 on CITV in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada (which was owned by WIC at the time before being acquired by Canwest Global in 2000), 15 days before its first showing in the United Kingdom on BBC One and two days before being broadcast in the United States on Fox. It was also shown in some countries for a limited time in cinemas. The film was the first attempt to revive ''Doctor Who'' following its suspension in 1989. Susan Foreman
Susan Foreman (also known as Susan Campbell in spin-off media) is a fictional character in the British science fiction television series '' Doctor Who''. The granddaughter and original companion of the First Doctor, she was played by actress Carole Ann Ford from 1963 to 1964, in the show's first season and the first two stories of the second season. Ford reprised the role for the feature-length 20th anniversary episode '' The Five Doctors'' (1983) and the 30th anniversary charity special '' Dimensions in Time'' (1993). Jackie Lane (actress)
Jackie Lane (10 July 1941 – 7 June 2021) was an English actress known for her role as Dodo Chaplet, a companion of the Doctor, in the BBC science fiction television series ''Doctor Who''. She played the part from February to July 1966 alongside William Hartnell as the Doctor. Early life Jacqueline Joyce Lane was born in Manchester in 1941 to Jack and Ena Lane. Her father - a theatrical wig maker and make-up artist - brought her into contact with the theatre at an early age and all she wanted to do was act. After graduating from local drama groups, she auditioned for the lead in Tony Richardson's film adaptation of ''A Taste of Honey''. Although she did not get the part, the audition did lead to two years of work at the Library Theatre in Manchester. In between roles, she worked as a temp, having studied shorthand and typing at her parents' insistence. The Myth Makers
''The Myth Makers'' is the third serial of the third season of the British science fiction television series ''Doctor Who''. Written by Donald Cotton and directed by Michael Leeston-Smith, the serial was broadcast on BBC1 in four weekly parts from 16 October to 6 November 1965. In the serial, based on Homer's ''Iliad'', the First Doctor (William Hartnell) and his travelling companions Vicki (Maureen O'Brien) and Steven ( Peter Purves) land in Troy during the Trojan War. The Doctor is captured by the Greeks and forced to formulate a plan for taking the city, while Steven and Vicki are captured by the Trojans and forced to devise a means of banishing the Greeks; the latter duo meet Katarina (Adrienne Hill), who joins the Doctor by the serial's end.
