This is a list of Danish football transfers for the 2008 summer transfer window. Only moves featuring at least one Danish Superliga club are listed. The 2007–08 Danish Superliga season ended on May 24, 2008, with the 2008–09 Danish Superliga season starting on July 19, 2008. The summer transfer window opened on 1 July 2008, although a few transfers took place prior to that date; including carry-overs from the winter 2007–08 transfer window. The window closed at midnight on 31 August 2008. Players without a club may join one at any time, either during or in between transfer windows. If need be, clubs may sign a goalkeeper on an emergency loan, if all others are unavailable. Danish Superliga
The Danish Superliga ( da, Superligaen, ) is the current Danish football championship tournament, and administered by the Danish Football Association. It is the highest football league in Denmark and is currently contested by 12 teams each year, with two teams relegated. History Founded in 1991, the Danish Superliga replaced the Danish 1st Division as the highest league of football in Denmark. From the start in 1991, 10 teams were participating. The opening Superliga season was played during the spring of 1991, with the ten teams playing each other twice for the championship title. From the summer of 1991, the tournament structure would stretch over two calendar years. The 10 teams would play each other twice in the first half of the tournament. In the following spring, the bottom two teams would be cut off, the points of the teams would be cut in half, and the remaining eight teams would once more play each other twice, for a total of 32 games in a season. Viborg FF
Viborg Fodsports Forening ("Viborg Footsport Association"), or Viborg F.F. and VFF for short, is a Danish professional football club based in Viborg. The club was founded in 1896 and waited more than a century before winning its only national trophy, the 2000 Danish Cup. History Viborg FF was founded in 1896, with several other sports apart from football - among other things were gymnastics, cricket, field hockey, boxing, athletics, skiing, weight-lifting, and wrestling. The first big sporting highlight of the club came in 1924, when Viborg FF won the championship in ''Mesterrækken'' (The Champion Division), which was the best regional division in Jutland. A big title win at the time when, among others, AGF were a dominating club in Jutland. Slagelse Boldklub & Idrætsforening, commonly known as Slagelse B&I, is an association football club based in Slagelse, Denmark, that competes in the Denmark Series, the fifth tier of the Danish football league system. Founded in 1887, making it the fifth oldest club in the country, it is affiliated to DBU Zealand. The team plays its home matches at Slagelse Stadium, which has a capacity of 10,000. Between 2008 and 2015, the club's first team went under the name of FC Vestsjælland. Valur Men's Football
The Valur men's football team, commonly known as Valur, is the men's football department of the Knattspyrnufélagið Valur multi-sport club. It is based in Reykjavík, Iceland, and currently plays in the Besta deild karla, the top-tier men's football league in Iceland. The team plays it home games at Hlíðarendi located in Reykjavík. The team's colors are red and white. Valur has spent most of it´s time in Icelandic top flight football, having only played 3 seasons in the clubs history outside the top tier. Valur is one of the most successful football clubs in Iceland with 23 Icelandic championships. Knattspyrnufélagið Víkingur, commonly referred to as Víkingur or Víkingur Reykjavík (to distinguish them from Víkingur Ólafsvík) and internationally known as Vikingur F.C., is an Icelandic sports club based in the Fossvogur neighbourhood of Reykjavík. It is one of the oldest sports clubs in Iceland, founded on 21 April 1908. The football club has won six Championship titles, five First Division titles and four Cup titles. Víkingur operates other sports divisions including handball, tennis, table tennis, karate and skiing. All sports include both male and female teams. The San Jose Earthquakes are an American professional soccer team based in San Jose, California. The Earthquakes compete as a member club of the Western Conference of Major League Soccer (MLS). Major League Soccer (MLS) is a men's professional soccer league sanctioned by the United States Soccer Federation, which represents the sport's highest level in the United States. Brøndbyernes Idrætsforening (, usually abbreviated to Brøndby IF (), is a professional association football club based in Brøndbyvester, Capital Region of Denmark. Aarhus Gymnastikforening (; commonly known as AGF ), is a professional sports club based in Aarhus, Jutland, Denmark. Founded in 1880, it is one of the oldest clubs in the country and gymnastics and fencing are featured as its main sports. Herfølge Boldklub is a Danish football club founded in 1921. It is based in Herfølge, a southern suburb of Køge in the eastern part of Zealand. In 2009, the club shared its licence, and merged its professional football with Køge BK to form HB Køge. History On 27 February 2007, the club agreed, at an extraordinary general meeting, a professional football merger with Køge Boldklub, to form HB Køge. The merger was halted by the Danish Football Association in March 2007, due to a missed deadline. Because Køge Boldklub got into financial problems in April 2007, the merger was abandoned.
