Daffy Duck
Daffy Duck is an animated cartoon character created by animators Tex Avery and Bob Clampett for Leon Schlesinger Productions. Styled as an anthropomorphic black duck, he has appeared in cartoon series such as ''Looney Tunes'' and '' Merrie Melodies'', in which he is usually depicted as a foil for either Bugs Bunny, Porky Pig or Speedy Gonzales. He was one of the first of the new " screwball" characters that emerged in the late 1930s to replace traditional everyman characters who were more popular earlier in the decade, such as Mickey Mouse, Porky Pig, and Popeye. Daffy starred in 130 shorts in the golden age, making him the third-most frequent character in the ''Looney Tunes''/''Merrie Melodies'' cartoons, behind Bugs Bunny's 167 appearances and Porky Pig's 153 appearances. A Coy Decoy
''A Coy Decoy'' is a 1941 Warner Bros. ''Looney Tunes'' cartoon, directed by Bob Clampett. The cartoon was released on June 7, 1941, and stars Porky Pig and Daffy Duck. The film is set in a closed bookstore at night, when the many characters and elements featured within the books come to life, similar to Frank Tashlin's own shorts '' Speaking of the Weather'', '' Have You Got Any Castles?'', and '' You're an Education''. The idea would later be reworked five years later into '' Book Revue'', although only Daffy features in that. Plot The film begins with Ludwig van Beethoven's " Moonlight Sonata" playing as the scene descends on a bookstore. Friz Freleng
Isadore "Friz" Freleng (; August 21, 1905May 26, 1995), credited as I. Freleng early in his career, was an American animator, cartoonist, Film director, director, Film producer, producer, and composer known for his work at Warner Bros. Cartoons on the ''Looney Tunes'' and ''Merrie Melodies'' series of cartoons from the 1930s to the early 1960s. In total he created more than 300 cartoons. He introduced and/or developed several of the studio's biggest stars, including Bugs Bunny, Porky Pig, Tweety, Sylvester the Cat, Sylvester, Yosemite Sam (to whom he was said to bear more than a passing resemblance), Granny (Looney Tunes), Granny, and Speedy Gonzales. The senior director at Warners' Termite Terrace studio, Freleng directed more cartoons than any other director in the studio (a total of 266), and is also the most officially-honored of the Warner directors, having won five Academy Awards and three Emmy Awards. ''Wise Quacks'' is a 1939 Warner Bros. ''Looney Tunes'' animated short film directed by Bob Clampett released on August 5, 1939. Plot Mrs. Daffy surprises Daffy with the news that she has several eggs waiting to be hatched. Porky reads the announcement of the expecting duck duo in the newspaper. The eggs hatch as Porky comes to congratulate his old friend. Later, an eagle tries to make off with one of the babies. Daffy, still drunk off of corn juice from both worrying about the birth as well as celebrating the hatchlings, pursues the birdnapper. The eagle gathers reinforcements to take on the drunk duck. Porky comes to the rescue to find Daffy and the gang of eagles all getting drunk together, much to Mrs. Daffy's dismay. ''Scalp Trouble'' is a 1939 Warner Bros. ''Looney Tunes'' cartoon directed by Bob Clampett. The cartoon was released on June 24, 1939, and stars Porky Pig and Daffy Duck. Plot General Daffy is commanding Army Post No. 13 on the frontier, and his troops are a sorry lot. Soldier Porky refuses to get out of his bed—that is, until Daffy comes in and eventually destroys it. Soon a tribe of Indians launches an attack on the post on horseback. Porky sees them approaching, and attempts to awaken the other sleeping soldiers. Among the subsequent gags are: An Indian drinks "fire water" and spits fire, carving an Indian-shaped hole in the front of the fort, then walks through it; a short Indian uses the bow-leg of a taller Indian to shoot arrows; and a soldier shoots over the wall at the enemy, keeping score to the tune of "Ten Little Indians." Chuck Jones
Charles Martin Jones (September 21, 1912 – February 22, 2002) was an American animator, painter, voice actor and filmmaker, best known for his work with Warner Bros. Cartoons on the ''Looney Tunes'' and ''Merrie Melodies'' series of shorts. He wrote, produced, and/or directed many classic animated cartoon shorts starring Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Wile E. Coyote and the Road Runner, Pepé Le Pew, Marvin the Martian, and Porky Pig, among others. Jones started his career in 1933 alongside Tex Avery, Friz Freleng, Bob Clampett, and Robert McKimson at the Leon Schlesinger Production's Termite Terrace studio, the studio that made Warner Brothers cartoons, where they created and developed the Looney Tunes characters. During the Second World War, Jones directed many of the ''Private Snafu'' (1943–1946) shorts which were shown to members of the United States military. Daffy Duck And The Dinosaur
''Daffy Duck and the Dinosaur'' is a 1939 Warner Bros. ''Merrie Melodies'' animated cartoon short directed by Chuck Jones. The cartoon was released on April 22, 1939, and is the first Daffy Duck cartoon directed by Jones. ''Daffy Duck and the Dinosaur'' is set in a chronologically twisted Stone Age and features Daffy Duck going up against a caveman named Casper (who is a caricature of Jack Benny) and his pet ''Brontosaurus'' Fido. This is the last cartoon with the ''Vitaphone'' intro, which was first used in '' The Phantom Ship'' in 1936. Plot Casper (a caveman) and Fido (an apatosaur) go hunting for breakfast and come upon Daffy. Casper uses a slingshot to fire a rock at the duck who, until he realizes the danger, is casually floating along in a lake. He revs up to amazing speed, though barely keeping ahead of the rock.
